The " Strip Sack " can be effective VS. Evans for VT

Nov 29, 2016, 12:31 AM

A Writer from the Virginia Pilot says that QB Evans " when He runs he has the tendency to fumble the ball". We've seen how effective the strip sack is in big Games, Super Bowl anyone? ACC Championship looks like an opportunity for our Defense to shine & create turnovers.

Is that Evans guy that really, really, really tall QB?

I haven't watched VT for a few years.

Evans 6'4 230 lbs.

Dexter Lawrence 6'5 340 lbs. Christian Wilkins 6"4 310 lbs. ;)

Yeah. I was doing a little research and pretty sure J. Evans has 9 fumbles on the season. He didn't lose them all but did put it on the ground 9 times. That's a lot by one player. Especially your QB1

Clemson Front 7 has the ability, speed & strength to get off the edges to create these type of turnovers. Control the line of scrimmage in this game is crucial, because VT has A bunch of tall, Fast WR Talent, TE is 6'7 other receivers 6'4. Defense will have to play lights out, with run contain on the QB and in the secondary.
Clemson depth outmatches VT & experience in Big games. VT will be a challenge, but they struggle with their run game -as some fans have admitted on boards. Either means, no running back and/or weak OL. They can pass, but they will try too much, Evans will run and then..Strip Sack Time.

I've either been too or watched every VT game this season and if Evans has a problem putting the ball on the ground it would be news to me... VT in general has had a handful of games where turnovers have been an issue. The Tennessee game is the obvious one. The Notre Dame game the center/QB/RB exchange had some issues, but that game was played in 20 degree weather and on and off snow.. so some of that is to be expected. Similar deal in the UNC game.

Evans overall has had a great year, responsible for 30+ (34 if im not mistaken) TDs, with only 5 INTs.

RB play has been an issue all season. We've had significant injuries there, and our returning 1000 yard rusher has had a disappointing year. Sam Rogers at fullback is about as good as they get at that position, and the WR corp is legit across the board.
