Well its definitely Spring

Had 2 pairs of cardinals on and around my truck this morning. The males see their reflection in the side mirror and scratch, peck and poop all over it. They did it for almost 3 months last year. I had to clean the mirror a couple of times a week to be able to see anything in it. They also attack the windows on the south and east sides of the house early in the mornings when the sun is coming up and they can see their reflection there. Any ideas how to keep them off the truck mirrors? Shooting them is not an option. Those of you who know me should know I have already considered that.

If you figure something out let me know. My wife has the same problem with her mirrors where she parks at work.

I would put these on overnight. Might be annoying to put on/remove every day. But save you from cleaning poop or having a cracked mirror.

For the House.. maybe a film that dampens the reflection. But that is usually put on the inside of the window, so not sure if that will help.

That is a great idea. Some of those birds have larger, harder peckers and can destroy a crack in the mirror.

I have seen people tie plastic grocery bags over the mirrors so they cannot see their reflection. Just remove them when you leave the driveway. It works, pretty simple, and faster than washing car every few days.
