Just found out that Tanner’s in Greenville is closing and man I hate that. Always enjoyed stopping there anytime we came to Clemson. Always had great food and great service

Always enjoyed the downtown G'ville location in the 50s and 60s. Hotdogs were the best along with the fresh OJ.

My Mom and Dad use to take us over in our PJ’s for a Big Orange drink. Those were the best of times.

Back in the 70's when Tanners was on Main Street, I could walk from my office and enjoy a hot dog, fries and of course a Big Orange for lunch. Tanners will be missed.

Tanners moved to the current Pleasantburg location in 1966. I wasn’t aware there was a 2nd location on Main Street still open in the 1970’s.

I never ate there, but just looked at the menu and it appears that his complaint about cost of ingredients wasn't reflected in his prices. Maybe if he had raised his prices he would still be in business - but it would not have cured his health issues, which he also says determined his decision.
The pictures of their food look great - particularly the cheeseburgers - wish I would have eaten some of it.

I knew it would be a matter of time though. I looked at the building about a year or 2 ago and I don't know why there weren't any noticable upgrades.
That burger with the chili on top of the burger really warms the bones...... really good.
Don't even get me started on that half slushy grape-juice they have. That stuff really hits the spot.

that side of Greenville has become irrelevant. Without Greenville tech over there there is nothing.

Pleasantburg Drive is still kicking. I do a lot of business on Pleasantburg. Gave my 1998 Camry a paint job at Maaco a few years ago (I know, I'm cheap) and rented a car across the street at Enterprise. Stop at Krispy Kreme once in a while. Eat at Taco Casa on the other side of 385 and Golden Corral on up occasionally. Haven't been to the Convention Center lately though. Go to Cherrydale sometimes. You need to get out more, me too.
And haven't been to Tanner's since the 90s, but used to love to stop there for a hot dog and a soda.
