Taking a knee at opponents goal line as time expires. Yes/No

We did it against Boston College leading by a nice margin ... then we didn't against Georgia Tech in a very similar situation.
What do you think?
Do you like the idea, or dislike it?
Or is it situational??

1. BC isn't a rival
Oct 7, 2012, 10:58 PM
|
|
2. We did a very conservative play, if we had done a trick play, it'd be unacceptable.
3. The entire stadium knew we were going to run it up the middle. If PJ and company can't stop something when they know exactly what is coming, 90% of fans on both sides will agree that they deserve to be scored on.

He scored late on Michigan one year right before Bo wenbt there. He was asked why he went for two so late in the game. "Because I couldn't go for three." That is what he said. After years of GT's option and cut blocks at guys knees I had no problem yesterday with the td.

As I recall there was just over a minute left, so two plays needed, I think over a minute run a play, under kill it. I believe Dabo would have taken a knee if we did not score that play.

We Scored on a 80 yard drive..That was for McDowell
Oct 8, 2012, 8:07 AM

He had just hit a 26 yard run....you don't take a knee against a rival off of a 80 drive at home......
Granted the last drive at BC was a 72 yard drive and AE hit a 46 Yard run, but you don't do that on the road against a good guy that is about to get fired when the score was meaningless....If we go up there in two years, the could cause a retaliation...
Both calls were correct

Situational, IMO. Are you playing a class program? Is there

A guy who took it all the way down the field and deserves to punch it in? Would it cause a record to be broken, etc.

Against an all class program like BC, you take a knee.
Against a lowdown, dirty, sh!teating classless program and their dbag of a coach, you punch it in and shove it up their ###. I loved every second of it. SUCK IT BEES!!

Way I look at it, our offense drove the ball down there, they deserve to get the touchdown out of it! Yea the game may already be won but i believe it would kill morale to a certain point to work your butt off to get to the goal and being cut off right at it

Up by more than two scores (17 or more points), take the knee. Anything less, punch it in.

I totally approve of punching it in, but truth be told, Ga Tech never sees the ball again if we take a knee. They were out of timeouts and the clock would have expired. Still, I was happy to see us score. After the BC game, I sort of expected us to take a knee and settle for the 9 point win.

NO Because In today's media it's not about who you beat,,it's about how much you beat (score) them by which dictates ranking, strength of schedule, TV time, recruits, all this equals $$$$$$$ The Tigers beat GaTech and still dropped in the polls Playing by and being MR. Nice Guy in today's college football will not return the $$$$$$ needed to compete at the National Level for a Championship

Paul Johnson was coaching so stick it up his ### even if you are up by 30. Spurrier coaching stick it up his ### and do an onside kick and try to get even more. Any other coach, take a knee.
