Take a breath....NIL is not the end of college football, nor

Jul 24, 2021, 1:59 PM

is it the first step toward a professional development league. It will absolutely be used as a recruiting tool. Teams in bigger markets will benefit more. But football comes down to blocking, tackling, execution, and coaching. Bigger, faster players are better than smaller, slower ones.

If you look at the revenues of the college programs, Clemson should NEVER be in the discussion of being a top tier team if money and influence is the biggest determining factor of what happens on the field.
It is not fair that Texas brings in more than double what Clemson brings in. Georgia and Michigan are almost double. Northwestern, Tennessee, Nebraska, and the mighty game chickens are some that are ahead of Clemson.

But the Tigers have a great coaching staff that can recruit well even to a small, rural school in a poor, small state. And we win.

Maybe schools in a bigger market will get more and better recruits than ones in smaller markets. But that has always been the case.

Fortunately there are only so many scholarships to give out, only so many generational players, and only so many great coaches to go around. And also as fortunate, an OLine getting an endorsement from Bubba's BBQ shack won't make them block any better.

We're good; college ball is good; and I can't wait to see it kickoff in another few weeks!

Go Tigers.

Now if the NFL starts taking players after only playing one year in college, then hold everything...

Good post. I agree that the NIL is not going to be as much of a problem as people believe. I think schools like Clemson, with a good staff and resources can be proactive and prepare these young men, and know how to use it to their and the program’s advantage.
It will take some navigating and their will be issues and things that need to be tweaked.

Unfortunately, the Texas/Oklahoma joining the SEC thing may put Clemson at a disadvantage. More money and publicity pooled into those schools and that puts the NIL on a whole different level.

Oh, but it is.

I’m starting to watch less and less. And I am sure others are in the same boat.
