Robbie Caldwell

Dude got a lot of heat on here for years. His O Lines were better though, right? Just seems like maybe losing that guy was a bigger deal than people realize.

Same with Tony Elliott. Maybe he wasn't a great OC, but was he a better TE/RB coach than we have right now? I mean, what would happen if Shipley yelled in TE's face on the sideline? No way that happens, right?

Then, you're really gonna hate this but, what about Streeter? Is our QB play better now than it was with him? Cade has really cost the team with poor decisions and turnovers. Looks very immature out there.

Of course, everyone on here seems to love Jeff Scott and think that Jeff Scott > Grisham, so no need to go there . . . or to talk about what BV meant to Clemson.

Team seems pretty dysfunctional. Ship yelling at CJ, Cade going rogue in Miami, Stellato blaming "freak plays." Signs are everywhere. Really sad to see. Think we're missing the leadership that some of the older position coaches were obviously providing. Again, it's sad to see.

Offensive line has been the overall worst

position group in Dabo's tenure ,period. Just look at the NFL numbers on that. However. Caldwell seems to have been light years beyond Austin. This group is horrible.

I agree.

We’ve never been great at OL under Caldwell. Better than now but nothing to say Caldwell was a genius.

Caldwell was doing it with lesser ranked recruits. Now the stars are better but play is worse.

I don't know man. Our highest rated tackle ever went undrafted under Caldwell. Like most of the staff now, he didnt seem to develop players as much as stagnate them.

Do we even see or hear coaches after games? No. Trainwreck is coming back to Clemson next week on ABC at noon! Let's pray for a better result.

Caldwell is the reason for terrible oline play. Austin is his mentee

Oct 29, 2023, 12:26 PM

We only had one good year of oline play under Caldwell (2018). We just had 4 good QB’s with Tajh, Deshaun, Kelly, and Trevor who were able to cover up for the deficiencies on the Oline. With DJU (who is just average, but not bad) and Cade (who is absolutely terrible) has exposed the effects of poor run blocking

more true than about this Clemson football season.

This season is over, for all practical purposes. It is what happens AFTER the season that will determine the future of Clemson football. Dabo is not going to burn down the house in the middle of the season, even though that is secretly what a lot of the more vocal yokels on here would have him do. I would be willing to bet that Dabo is already looking at potential candidates for assistant coaching positions right now, even though those contacts won't officially be made until season's end.

Contrary to some opinions, I very much doubt if Dabo wants to sit idly by, count his money, and let what he has taken so long to build crumble to the ground. Ebbs and flows happen in coaching. H.ell, it happened to no less than Bear Bryant at Alabama. I am old enough to remember a Sport Illustrated article chronicling Bama's struggles during that downturn, when Bear said his players had "lost pride in the red jersey". This was after two straight seasons in which Bama only won 6 games, going 6-5, and 6-5-1. Howls of "Bear is too old school, past his prime, yada yada" abounded.

What followed after that 1970 6-5-1 season? Only a ten year stretch where Bama won the SEC 8 times, finished second twice, and added two more Natties to the total. Not bad for a has been. Now, will Dabo be that successful again? It wouldn't seem so right now, but he has made his career out of proving people who doubt him wrong. I am not writing him off yet.

Fingers crossed

Better off with Dabo trying to turn it around than anyone else imo.

Tony Elliott was a good on field coach that done a pretty good job, not so much as our OC...

Tony Elliott was a great OC. He was the play caller after Chad Morris left

The ACCs all time leading rusher ran behind his lines, just saying! I’ll take him back tomorrow. Bring back Dan Brooks, Marion Hobby and Jeff Scott while you’re at it, seemed to work just fine!
