The National Anthem is a song above all other songs, and to treat any other song with the same respect you show to the National Anthem diminishes that respect. And the same goes for singing the National Anthem. If you want to impress us with your vocal gymnastics, there are thousands of songs you can do that on. But, the National Anthem is NOT one of them. Sing it the way it's written, or move aside and let someone else sing it.
