PJ that these games are not the time to be working on his 3 pointer.

Those misses are huge point swings in tight games. Especially, when he is almost money when he's 6 ft from the goal. I just don't understand it. We aren't that good of a team to lose possessions.

Either he is being allowed to launch it, or he doesn't care what CBB says. Either way it points back to the staff.

I don’t mind him shooting the 3, AFTER we have tried to work it inside. So many of his 3’s are in the first 10 seconds of the shot clock. The bad thing when he misses if we never get a rebound, don’t force the other team to play much defense and never put the other big man in peril of foul trouble. It’s more than just missing the shot.

I know 40% is 40% and it’s good for three pointers, but he made two in a 1 minute span in the 4th minute of the game and was 0 fer for the remaining 36 + minutes.

Did you not know that or were you using a stat to make a point? The situation and flow of the game matters

I don’t have a problem with him taking those shots it’s that he launches and turns up court instead of following his shot to allow him a chance for a long rebound

But the entire team does it so it’s almost like they’ve been taught to do that. . . .

There were multiple times with different players where if they had just stood where they shot from or took even just one step toward the basket the rebound came right back there. A couple of them even hit the floor so they would have been easy rebounds. But the shooter was already headed down the court. We talked about rebounding the other day and a lot of it is understanding angles and what direction the ball is likely to bounce. Anyone who has played the game knows right back toward the shooter is a very common direction for a rebound to go. Maybe our transition defense is that the shooter is supposed to be the first man back, but it doesn’t seem like the others, except Schieffelin are crashing the boards really hard either. Girard should be our first guy back on D in almost every case. I know when I played “follow your shot” was a common instruction given by coaches.
