Since you guys love to rail on SCAR football...

Oct 22, 2012, 12:49 PM

From yesterday's Tampa Bay Times:

"Of course, it helps if the other team leaves the ball lying on the turf as frequently as South Carolina did Saturday. The Gamecocks set up the Gators for 21 points with three of their four turnovers, which is sort of like filling a bus up with gas right before it runs you over."

"The only thing you can hope for is that your guys give it their best and don't just lay the ball down and basically say 'Here, Florida, we don't want to win. You guys take this fumble and this fumble and this fumble,' " Spurrier said.

Looks like order is restored in the SEC East ;)

UF did not physically manhandle us. In the first half we were actually outplaying them except for the fumbles. Turnovers too costly to overcome.

^^^^Uh - YES THEY DID. UF took your guys to the woodshed and spanked that ###.

No they didn't. If that is what you saw it says more about your perception than it does about what actually happened. UF isn't that great. Game just got away from us. Us, UF, and UGA are all pretty close actually. UF deserves their ranking because of the results but Bama will slaughter them and FSU will probably beat them. Their defense is good but not elite and their offense is very average. They are not much better than either South Carolina or Clemson. I won't be surprised if UGA beats them. I give tehm all the credit for creating turnovers but if those do not happen that game is very close. UF is not 2nd best team in the country.

"Their defense is good but not elite and their offense is very average."

Sounds like you're describing the entire SEC there.

Thats alot of the conference for sure. Still, we made UF look much better than they were.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You couldn't hold on to the ball

that's almost the definition of physically manhandling

Actually those fumbles were not giveaways. Florida created them with strips and pressure. Bottom line.

So when Carolina fumbles its because they layed the ball down and just gave it to them, but when they force fumbles its because the D took it from them. Carolina did not just lay the ball on the f'n ground! if that makes the old ball sack feel better then go ahead and say it. UF was bringing the hammer on the every snap on D and was attacking the ball, all of those fumbles a FL player's hand was seen hacking at the ball knocking it loose. SC just got a taste of they're own medicine is all, cause i've seen them score countless times and benefit from costly turnovers and dumb plays by the other team.

South Carolina had more total yards than Fla. They held Florida to 180 total yards for the game.

Did you notice the score board? Take away 21 from UF and the game is still not that close.

When your D is giving your O the football within 30 yards of the endzone 3-4 times in a game, you shouldn't have very many total yards of offense. The key thing was...FL made everyone of them count to the most.

that Fla. saw on film that return guys were hanging the ball out so the gamed it to go after/swat the ball on returns. And then Conner gave them the other one to start. So it worked good for them.

Love it when OBS has meltdown in mid-season!
