Share your informed opinion about CU Baseball

Mar 2, 2014, 12:10 PM

OK educate me.
Disclaimer... I do not follow nor really care about college baseball. I am 100% Clemson but I focus prefer basketball and football.

So about baseball... how good is Clemson and how good have they really been over the last 10 to 12 years?

I want realistic expectations vs actual outcome.

From my Clemson fan and baseball outsider perspective, it appears that Clemson is hyped to start the season, comes out the gates weakly and stumbling... corrects something mid season or end of season, then occasionally makes noise in ACC tourney or possibly Baseball playoffs.

But overall, it has sounded to me that Clemson consistently has not been a consistent, effective baseball team from start to finish of a season, and has not surpassed expectations over the last 10 years.

So back to the question... how good is Clemson this year really and how good of a program has it really been for last 10 to 12 years?

I will now read your informed opinions.

I believe the Clemson baseball program has been mediocre to good over the past 10 to 12 years, in my opinion. I think going 12 years without an ACC Championship in baseball it's quite frankly, ridiculous. Losing 11 plus ACC games 7 straight years doesn't seem acceptable either.

This year every part of the team is good, not great. We have two Good Starting pitchers and the third starter is a transfer from ETSU that got shelled there.

Our bats are a joke, Krieger and Duggar are the only ones I have confidence in going up to the plate with. Everyone else is hit or miss, although the Okey kid has massive amounts of potential (1st round pick to the Padres).

Losing to Sakerlina is not the reason all the negativity is around. We lost the season opener to Eastern Michigan as well. Versus scar we have committed countless errors in the field and stranded way too many batters. We also have been slightly bullied with their players elbowing our biggest player and zero retaliation unless you count yelling at someone when we're down by 8 runs a retaliation.

Realistically

We are the worst baseball team on the planet. We should disband the team and deport all the players to their respective countries.

There are still a vocal minority that are OK with being 6th in the conf and getting embarrassed by the instate rival. These people are referred to as enablers.

When Leggett took over, I was a student. We were a top 5 team and the ACC was a battle between us, FSU, and sometimes GT. since then we have steadily fallen to the 5 best team in the ACC. I am a Leggett supporter, but it's getting harder. We're pretty much irrelevant nationally save the final 4 in 2010. I feel we still sign good players, but do not develop them
