All the comments from Dabo and the BOT tells the story of the Big 12. I really don't think the Big 12 was as interested as many Clemson fans were. I also don't think that Clemson really wanted to go to the Big 12. I know all agree that the SEC is a much better fit for Clemson. My guess is that if the SEC were to come calling that 1000% would drop to zero very quickly. The rumors were exciting but who knows in the world of backroom deals maybe there will be an SEC move negotiated some day. Better yet maybe the powers to be have been advised of developments about to take place in the ACC. Something has definitely calmed the storm in the ACC. Maybe that is lack of interest from other conferences or maybe it is something we haven't heard about yet.

But all the blog talk coming out from guys like Swaim(?) now that Clemson has appeared to have said no in public, sounds just like the guy that asks a girl out, after she shoots him down, he tells everyone he wasn't really that interested just to save face.

The only chance that Clemson has of ever getting INTO the SEC is if South Carolina drops OUT of it. And guess what? Ain't gonna happen! When you consider the fact that they're now able to compete on a level playing field in football (OK - they're not AL or LSU, but would not be punded by either of them), have dominated in baseball in recent years, and with the addition of Frank Mrtin as coach, are bound to improve in basketball (they have no way to go but up!), not to mention the butt-load of SEC $ that is constantly being thrown at them, it equals a position in the catbird seat.

As far as the SEC is concerned, Clemson brings nothing to the table. The quality of Clemson athletics, whatever it may be at the time the SEC decides again to again expand, has nothing to do with it. They would want to increase their TV market as a result of expansion. Adding Clemson doesn't do that. My guess is that they'd want to first go into the Virginia/DC market and get either VA, VA Tech, and/or Maryland. Second, GA Tech and the Atlanta Media.Finally, North Carolina. Clemson? Not a prayer!
