Traffic....worst I've seen. Took five-ever to get to the game.
Coeds did a great job of looking like coeds.
Dabbotron is YUGE. Borderline obnoxious. Volume needs to be turned down some.
Student section was hopping. Them youngins was INTO it, specially when auto-tuned EDM/rap stuff got played.
Took some grande huevos for Dabo to hook DJ and put in Kid Klubnik. The kid brought moxie and energy, and the rest of the place (players, fans, etc.) biggly fed off of it and it made all the difference. Great call in hindsight. Kid made a few good throws and is quick on his feet. He's got some gunslinger in him.
DJ did in fact have a bad day. The turnovers were disappointing.
When DJ was put in to kneel out the final play, I told mi amigo it was symbolic of CDS's belief in DJ and that the narrative would be that DJ is our guy. Had CK kneeled it, the narrative would have been "we'll see who practices the best this week".
'Cuse is a good football team, or at least they were on Saturday.
The absence of Barret Carter was a problem.
F them dirty orange. Stomping DJ and a 3 stooges poke to CK's face was bush league.
WEZ view is a different way to watch football. Good for some reasons, not so good for others.
The crowd overall was into the game. Seemed to be a lot of optimism among the crowd, even when we fell behind.
I think the biggest thing missing from our offense is a qb/wr combo that can stretch the field vertically.
The run game was on and popping. We are IMO going to continue to work on pounding the ball and controlling the clock. It's just who/what this team is shaping up to be. How well it works over the balance of the campaign remains to be seen. The rest of our schedule will be tricky to navigate, and going undefeated is far from given.
Great win overall. I'll take 'em however we get 'em.

And had to take the boat out and off the lift bc wouldn’t be able to launch it from dock (would be in the mud). I got like 3 feet below the end of my dock and it’s out about 100 feet from full pool.
I had to take the kayak out Sunday morn instead of launching the boat and dealing w all that. First world problems I guess

Couple thoughts back...

Based on what we saw, it felt like the biggest no-brainer of Dabo's career. It was a literally a no-lose decision based on how DJ was playing.

Disagree, this was my only problem with the substitution. If this was baseball, Cade would have gotten the W. You let him throw the last pitch. This was favoritism and player-coddling on the same level as Kyle Parker running down the hill as a junior. DJ, in his press conferences, seems like a classy guy with high emotional intelligence---quite frankly I bet he was more embarrassed by going in there for the knee than he was consoled by it.

but I'm glad it happened. It worked.
I'm sure putting DJ back in is coddling. Yes. Maybe the kid has a fragile ego, maybe they all do nowadays. CDS did it for a reason, and I think he wanted to show love to DJ and avoid breaking his spirit. Right or wrong, I dunno. It was done very purposefully though.

With zero knowledge of the actual internal workings of the locker room (read: I could be completely, totally wrong), it just feels like one of those moves that is unintentionally putting the player before the team, and would cause more grumblings than support for DJ, like the coach's son getting an extra juice box after the game.
Cade earned the knee is what we can probably agree on, and even if I'm wrong on any minor negative team impact, I'd put good money on Cade receiving it in a less than favorable light.

Cade earned the kneel-down. He didn't necessarily win the game, but he sure didn't do anything to lose it either. The crowd and the team were sparked when he came in. Also, agree that Dabo probably did it to make sure everyone knew where he stands with DJ being the starter.

DJ needs the support and coddling and CK does not need it this year. Dabo playing chess here even though I think CK should have done the kneel down. I’m sure he is also telling CK you are the guy for next year.

Based on 47 years understanding of how the male mind works and nothing else, I think Dabo might have missed the forest for the trees with that move, becoming so myopically focused on DJ’s well being that he might have missed the team preferring that Cade take the knee he earned. It’s hard to rally around a guy getting preferential treatment and being babied when it’s at the expense of another.
All in all, probably not a hill of beans of ultimate impact if I’m right, but this team’s dynamic has felt a little whacky already, kind of like the Kelly Bryant years, so I don’t really know. 8-0, just keep winning.

But the Dabo mindset is the same. DJ should be the starter IMO and it’s not close. But the leash is shorter this weekend for DJ to not be the starter moving forward. If he keeps FN it up then CK is the guy.

I’m talking about the team dynamic under their leadership. Neither of them seem(ed) totally comfortable with the “leader of the team” role, and under both the teams have felt a little more wish washy and indifferent, attitude-wise, than our more focused and united DW, TL, and even Tajh teams. In fairness, TL seemed like he was more trained to say the right leader-y things than it seemed to just come naturally and comfortably to him. Like I said also, it hasn’t mattered yet, but I have seen very little fire and purity of purpose from this group.

totally behind DJ as the starter. That wasn't the case with Kelly Bryant and TL. Cade won the game and he is going to be a GREAT one. That said, I don't think he is ready to be the full time starter.
To go true armchair psychiatrist, I wonder how much of Dabo coddling DJ is because of what DJ has been through with his father/family and Dabo's own experience with having a crappy father. It is no secret that Stallings is close to a surrogate father to Dabo.

that the way the QB situation was handled by the coaches, the QB's and the players had a pretty profound and positive impact on some of the recruits. Something about the culture of the program being our big draw with recruits.

it would surprise me that Cade and a portion of the team would view positively him coming in to win and then not getting to take the knee, but I have no idea how Dabo positioned it to the team, if at all. Maybe they thought it was awesome.

Feel like DJ is one of those characters in a movie with self-destructive tendencies where you're rooting for him to do well and halfway through the movie everything is great but deep down you know it won't last and then they show him waking up in a hotel room surrounded by empty liquor bottles like Denzel in "Flight"
I really don't trust him but at this point I still think he's our best option at QB, especially given how run heavy we are going to be the rest of the season (he's great at getting extra yards after contact to move the chains).
Just have to hope he'll play like 2020 DJ in South Bend again and it gets him some swagger back. He was moving the ball pretty well at the end of the 2H before the sack

Would have made kick off if it weren't for the ticket scanners and people just standing in the middle of the portal. I bet only 20% or so of tickets are actually being scanned, people were just walking right past the scanner folks. I actually think they've managed to some how make things less secure and less efficient with digital tickets and metal detectors.

I left later and took forever. Should have just done the biscuit but I didn’t even have time. Left around 10am (30 min as well usually) and got in seats right at noon. No tailgating
