Would a Mizzou win?

cause a Bama team to drop out of the top 4?
I'll bet they wouldn't because of the bias. They would only drop to #4
No way the selection committee is gonna do that

I posed that same question to Braden Gall and Chris Childers. No answer, but when I posed the same about FSU dropping out if they lose they gave a quick Yes. I agree with them

Bama would drop out of top 4, but Mizzou would jump to #4. The SEC will not get left out by the committee under any circumstances.

if the miserable SEC East won the most awesome, vaunted, tremendous, conference ever in the history of college football!
How would ESPN spin that?

It would be entertaining to watch them try.
I don't think it'll happen...mostly because the SEC is going to protect the brand, and Mizzou will also be playing the refs.
I'll still be rooting hard for Mizzou. A team with a loss to Indiana and a 34-0 home loss to UGA will NOT get into the playoffs, and there's just no way - none - to justify having Alabama in the Top-4 if they don't even win the SEC.
Starting the playoffs with four teams was always a bad idea. We need automatic berths for all the top five conference champs, an automatic bid for the highest-ranked of the mid-majors, and then two at-large berths the "selection committee" can argue over. Let the political stuff happen with the #7 and #8 teams; that's where it belongs. Elsewhere - settle it on the field, the way every other league, in all other sports, across the world actually does it.

I don't really have a problem with them being a 3-4 seed bc I really don't think they've been that good this year, but there's 0 chance they get left out.

Would love to see Bama lose, just to see...

what the committee would do. If OhSt loses, Bama would stay in the top four for sure, and I am betting on OhSt losing. Then, it would be either a two loss Bama representing the SEC or putting in two Big 12 teams, which i don't think they want to do. One guideline the committee should have is, a conference championship is a high priority. In that scenario this year, if Wisconsin wins and Bama loses, Wisconsin would have the edge over Bama, because they won their conference. A team that doesn't win their conference shouldn't get in unless they are clearly superior, and with a better record than the other contenders.
