Necessary? Do people go to baseball games to listen to music or watch the game. It would seem that all that racket would annoying to players.

college tennis can get pretty rowdy

if its coming down to the wire in doubles or singles. People yell at players and they get into it more with the fans a lot more than in the pros.
But there's no music except for like 5 minutes between doubles and singles.
