I don't see that. If FSU gets out the barn door is opened and all the animals get out. We would love both FSU and Clemson to be in the SEC with us. You two are SEC like schools that are not in the SEC.

Since a "school" is far more than a football program, Clemson is more like a B1G school than SEC. For that matter, we are far more like an ACC school than either. But it is my hope to get out of the ACC for all the reasons that don't need repeating, and go to the next best option, which is the B1G

Geography matters in terms of rivalries and limiting travel for student athletes and fans.
Vandy, Texas, Florida and Georgia are all fine academic institutions. And remember the ACC has Louisville, a very poorly rated commuter college, now.

FSU and Clemson can leave for about $600M each. FSU has a hedge fund involved now. How do they get more TV revenue then? SEC may not need or want them. Big 10 maybe.

I’m not at all sure all the SEC would like Clemson in the SEC. Not that any are afraid but why would Ga and Tn and Vandy and Ky want to play Clemson every year? Nothing to gain and lots to lose. Until the overall NCAA big boy football is aligned they have no incentive.
I’m not thrilled with home and home with Rutgers and Iowa but academically it would be a huge boost to our little Land Grant school.
All this is going to get mixed up again in the next 5 years as the eventual Big 64 gets aligned.

If it becomes apparent from the ACC meeting minutes on GOR renewal vote

that ESPN made the ACC Network contingent on renewing then ESPN may be at fault for creating such a pathetic, no value conference TV network that hardly ever shows compelling games rather than garbage non sports programming. I don’t think there is much value to the schools. They are really just paying ACC members to be able to put the good games on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC and everything else rots in anonymity. The CW Network deal is proof that the conference sees no real benefit from the ACCN.

That's laughable. Why would the ACC open the floodgates by settling? That's a really dumb take.

There is no conceivable scenario whereby the ACC "settles" with FSU in this matter. If the GOR is unenforceable as written, the conference pretty much implodes.

As it should. Nothing ACC MGMT has done has positioned any of their members for future success.

You only take less if there is a chance you will lose.
FSU has no legal legs to stand on. They signed the contract.
The only play that would even make sense is to leave and then refuse to pay until the case works its way through the court and hope the ACC is so irrelevant by that point that they give up without being paid.
but FSU owes the money and if they take it to court they will lose.

Eh, financially they are better off. But in terms of winning and having rivalries that are natural and matter, the B1G is a bad fit.
The thing that matters most to them, men’s basketball, has regressed. Football is probably a wash. They’re still quite good in men’s and women’s lacrosse.
