Last night. Amongst the crazy emotion (easily the most hyped moment of the season) Bertram is standing there making sure every base runner touches home plate 😂 this is why he’s the team captain

He's one smart cookie and plays 2nd with the best. And you never know when he's going to break out in the hit column.

I am fairly young. I coach. Do the talking on the scoreboard. I like to have fun but bat flips and such is bush

The bat flip and the golf swing after a guy gets on base with an extra base hit. Our coaches would have crucified us for doing crap like that. Save it for little league and ladies softball. Poor sportsmanship.

I’m old-school, but I tend to agree with you only because of the moment. That swing could change the entire season for us. It would be different if we were really bad or really good and already had a sense of our postseason fate or if it was just some midweek game but it wasn’t. It was a series winning swing and a season changing swing. I won’t forget that swing for a long time. Maybe never. Just like Beers bomb vs South Carolina

I know Bertram takes some flack because of his batting average, but its the details like this that make him irreplaceable. From taking an extra base, back picking the runner on first that just hit a single, deking runners sliding into second base, etc., etc. He is just a gamer.

It took a while but I know why Bakich brought him in and starts him every night. He exemplified the "from the neck up" philosophy.
