Snarky as usual, but offers a few interesting opinions.

TLDR...he thinks Clemson is out of ACC by 26-27 and joins SEC.

He's also an idiot. Clemson and FSU "crying like toddlers"? Greed is good.

Does Uncle Lou have a Law background or is he just spewing his opinion?

I like uncle Lou for what he is but he’s wrong on many accounts here. As a matter of fact there are some tv and conference contracts that have zero penalty. If I am remembering the Clemson lawsuit correctly, the BIG ten has zero penalty and the SEC is minuscule.

In 2021, SEC added an exit fee. It is $30 million if the school provides the proper notifications and stays 2 years after notification to leave ir $40 million if the school doesn't follow the bylaws. That is a bargain compared to the ACC.

*3.1.4 Withdrawal from Membership. A member may only withdraw from membership in the Conference after providing written notice to the President and the Commissioner of the date of its withdrawal at least two years prior to the date on which the withdrawal will be effective. The withdrawal notice must specify a withdrawal date of July 15 in the year in which the withdrawal will be effective. [Adopted: 1/14/21]

3.2 WITHDRAWAL FEE

*3.2.1 Obligation to Pay Withdrawal Fee. A member that provides notice of withdrawal from the Conference as required by Section 3.1.4 shall pay a withdrawal fee to the Conference of $30 million on or before the effective date of the withdrawal. [Adopted: 1/14/21]

*3.2.2 Additional Withdrawal Fee. A member that withdraws from the Conference without providing notice of withdrawal as required by Section 3.1.4 shall pay a withdrawal fee of $40 million to the Conference immediately upon providing notice of withdrawal (or if no notice is provided, as of the effective date of such withdrawal). [Adopted: 1/14/21]

The Big Ten gas had a GOR since 2007. They were the first conference to do that.

Who is Uncle Lou and why would ANYONE care what he says or thinks?

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

His assertion that ACC teams can just "pay the buy out" and leave

is absolutely false. The "buy out" is a $120 million exit fee and is separate from the GOR. Even if a team paid the $120 mil their media rights supposedly still belong to the ACC until 2036 according to the GOR so they would have no way of negotiating entry into a new conference without their media rights. That's the entire premise of FSU and Clemson lawsuits. And particularly with Clemson's lawsuit they want affirmation that the ACC doesn't hold Clemson media rights once they are no longer a member. This affirmation would put them in a position to negotiate those rights with another conference.

This guy is an idiot.
