Today I visit the coots new stadium for the first time. long

Jun 2, 2012, 8:46 AM

We live 35 miles away so I get a lot of the two time defending champs, #8 national seed and the kicker "we have a new stadium that's better than yours". Well I have driven by the stadium (do they know where it is?) and it isn't that impressive amongst the industrial buildings from the outside. I love Tiger Field (DKS) and can't imagine this place comparing favorably. I really hope that the "there's not a bad seat in the place" is true because our seats will test the theory. I am ready to see this Tiger team end the streak, send the coots to the losers bracket and if the winner of the first game today can't do it I am ready to see this Tiger team eliminate the coots and win their regional.

Oh yeah, Ben, if you're not too busy. We have really missed you and would like it if you could add a little something to a Tiger win today.

GO TIGERS!!!

Enjoy yourself.

Despite going to Clemson my freahman year I've never been to a game at our stadium, though I've seen our stadium many times because it is the nearest bathroom for my brother-in-laws tailgate. I have been to Carolina's stadium for a Clemson game and I found it to be nice. We lost that game really late in the innings that night :( Even all decked out in my Clemson apparel I was treated well. I find Carolina baseball fans (for the most part) are far more easy to tolerate than the average football fan. The game I went to was not a post-season game and it was before their back-back natl championships so I hope they haven't changed for your sake. Enjoy the game and GO TIGERS!

Seat isn't as good as you want, walk around. One of the great things about our stadium(Carolina) is that you can walk around the entire stadium and see the playing field.

Even with my bias to BTF, i wemt to the coots new stadium

yesterday and have to admit that it is one of the very best among college venues. Although i despise evebry facet of their athletic program, i have to be an honest man and admit that they have a heck of a baseball venue.

They are really hard to compare

Jun 2, 2012, 9:37 AM

Other than them being baseball stadiums they aren't much alike. It's like comparing the Marlins stadium to Fenway. I think both teams have a Staduim that fits them and their fan bases. I love DKS, the atmosphere there for a baseball game is second to none. However being a baseball fan I can appreciate their Staduim.

But having a big fancy Staduim full of fans will make it even sweeter when we win the regional!

Just remember while you are there that it took a Tiger to build such a nice place ; )

Changing the seats is in the works with the upgrade.

The "wow factor" is underneath the $37 million stadium. The baseball training facilities at the stadium include four indoor batting tunnels, a 3,900-square-foot weight room, team clubhouse, coaches offices, and a sports medicine room.

The seats are pretty good as long as you aren't in the outfield. I am probably biased, but it really is a pretty nice park.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We were impressed.

Jun 2, 2012, 9:42 PM

The park is first class, we moved around during the first game and we could't find a bad seat. Our seats for game 2 were in the bleachers but still good. The fans were tolerable but the game was heart breaking. A great effort by the Tigers.

Go Tigers, win two tomorrow and one Monday!

I'm biased but I'll take beautiful Tiger field. SC's stadium is very nice once you are in it. However, parking is extremely limited and many fans take a shuttle or walk a half marathon to get there. I am spoiled by being able to park very close to the stadium in Clemson. They definitely have the advantage in the clubhouse but our upgrade should offset that.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

true, but

Jun 5, 2013, 12:13 PM

the shuttle is actually fun.

I took a church group of boys last year to a game- and we all road the shuttle and the kids loved it. They drop you off at the gate, and pick you up at the gate and take you back to your car.

I had rather do that than fight 8,500 fans trying to leave a game.

I agree with you, give me Tiger Field any day but Scar's stadium is as good as any in the country.

The location isn't great but we had no trouble with parking, walked about the same distance we do at Tiger Field but did pay $10. I don't care for the industrial location but in Columbia they don't have much to work with. Within the confines of the stadium they have created an oasis within a terrible city.

I been a few times and really am impressed. DKS is in a better setting no doubt. But, the stadium itself is the best I've ever been in for college. I pains me to say.

when your program is winning - much less winning back-to-back national titles - it cerates a bit more revenue for facilities.
