Tempo seemed to change when Cade came in

I’m sure they were just trying to get as many snaps with them but the play calling and tempo was right on with that second crew. Would like to see us roll DJ out like that.
Overall, I thought DJ played ok. Didn’t put ball in a bad place other than fumble. Just got to make quicker decisions but maybe rolling him out would help.
Game 1 is a W!! Let’s go!!

DJ doesn't throw the ball as well on the move.

He doesn't have the athleticism and footwork to be accurate consistently.
Cade was putting the ball in the perfect spots for his receivers.

Yep, go back and watch his (DJU's) high school films. When was he most effective? Rolling out, throwing on the run, and hitting receivers in stride. What plays is he fed a steady diet of by our OCs? Pocket passer, spot throws. Maybe give him some plays that he can excel at, rather than what the OCs want to see him do. Either that or stop recruiting kids that don't fit into our offensive play scheme.
Not criticizing... just observing.

The odds that us message boarders have thought of that but they haven't...or tried it in practice..seems illogical. It's worth considering maybe DJ isn't the same he was in high school. Maybe the things that worked against high school talent no longer work against D-1 talent. DJ is marginally *faster* than last year but is still slow overall and designing a play where he has to outrun (fast) defenders while tracking a WR is probably a bad idea.

True!
Tempo makes the defense play base formations.
Maybe they felt he's good to go as long as the defense isn't playing games!
Whatever it was Cade looked great!

I was at the game and bottom line was that Cade looked comfortable on the field and DJ did not.

Oh my gosh, get over it. There was not much time on the clock when Cade came in clearly Streeter and Dabo wanted to get him as many plays a possible. Read nothing into what you are trying to read. Time and circumstance were the entire story.

In the final 2 drives, DJ snapped the ball after 20-25 seconds and sometimes longer. Cade snapped the ball after 15-20 seconds.
DJ had only 1 or 2 plays with motion. Cade had half his plays with motion.
DJ was in the RPO/Pocket. Cade was rolled out mostly or direct hand offs.
The offensive plan was completely different!
Want more evidence that the playcalling is different... The playcalling on 1st and 5. 4 consecutive runs. NO rub routs like Cade's TD. Also, the Ship TD had a person in motion.

DJ will never make "quicker" decisions. That is his weakness.
