Tailgating Question

Nov 27, 2012, 8:23 AM

I tailgated in Lot 1 last week. I normally tailgate in 1 or 2 when I come up for the game. I noticed this year the lot was really trashy. Most tailgates around us were just throwing stuff on the ground, including lots of glass bottles. Is this the norm? I'm not a fan that can't appreciate what a rival has. Clemson has a beautiful campus and a great gameday atmosphere. The only unfriendly exchange I had with any Clemson fans all day was when I offered the group beside me a trash bag when there stuff started to get kicked over into my tailgate area. This obviously wasn't everyone, but I would say probably 20 or so spaces that just had crap all over the ground. As we were leaving one group started burning a couch. Just really thought some of your younger fans needed to be taught a lesson in how to respect your campus. Granted I park in a deeded area in Columbia so we have pride in ownership, but you don't see much of this in the Farmer's Market or other booster parking areas. Is this the norm, or was it just due to the long day and big game. Before anybody tries you can't blame us Gamecocks, there were only 2 groups of us in the whole lot. Not bashing anyone, I'm sure most of you on this board have enough pride in Clemson that you would be offended by the behavior as well. Just an outside observation. Overall really enjoyed your hospitality.

Your fans. I tailgate in lot 1 every week. Never seen trash

like that before - both on the ground and walking (semi) upright.

Bought a lot 1 pass for NC State game, very rude folks there. Quite unimpressed. People set up and refused to move to let vehicles leave - tents set up and tables and drunk CU fans blocking both lanes, saw alot of trash then too.I will not say anything good about USUC people, but we have our share as well.

I have experienced a rude Clemson fan in that and other lots on occasion and have no doubt there was more of that Saturday than usual. We have our rude fans too.

But the trash Saturday was incredible and 100 times worse than I have ever seen. Since the Clemson fans were generally the same as every other week, why the difference?

More of a leave the women and children home, rivalry, bring your neighbor, bro in law Coot fan so you can go to Billy Brice next year crowd - night game, drink all day, etc,....

entire State. I will never understand why our people think the world is their trash can. Just look at all the trash on the sides of our roadways and on the Lake shorelines. Just every where

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I wouldn't blame it on the state...

worst I have seen it is at UGA and Miami. Lot 14 is usually generally clean.

game and you won't see much trash. People put their trash in bags and tie them up.

I have not missed a Clemson home game in 30 years and I saw 100 times the trash Saturday that I have ever seen.

50% of it was the night game and excessive drinking and 50% was the trash from Columbia.

Lot 4 also had more trash on the ground than usual. Most games people are pretty good about keeping it contained. I don't know if it was the fact that it was a night game and people were just out there longer and got to the point where they didn't care.

What do you do with the crackpipes in your lots inCoot-town?

Nov 27, 2012, 8:39 AM

Recycle?

Why don't you worry about teaching your young fans to not talk vulgar in the presence of women and children before you try and correct our young fans?

Trash talk on the field (and backed it up this year) and trashes our campus.

Like I said, just an observation, talk all the trash you want, I can see some of you don't have the pride I thought you might. That lot was 98% Tiger's and the worst group (the one's that burned the couch) were in all orange and offending everyone around them. And by the way, I did apologize for one drunk idiot screaming at an older Clemson couple. I'm not blinded by loyalty to a school, I can see the bad in my own fans and the good in yours. Must be sad going through life that way.

Tell you what Clemson 80, you send me pictures of where you tailgate, I will send you mine. Then you can tell me what you think. The crap that went on in Lot 1 would not have been tolerated in any booster lots in Columbia. The morons burning the couch would have ended up in jail. Hopefully that was the result Saturday night.
