ESPN hot dog eating contest. There are things bad about smoking and a lot of things, I agree but what can be any worst than a hot dog eating contest. 69 was it such a thing should be against the law. Stupid should not be shown on tv.

ongoing for decades I believe. Its comedic and disgusting, but its a staple there at Coney Island.
One could argue that being wasteful and eating massive amounts of processed food is the most American of all sports

If a 90 year old woman can do it, it ain't a sport.

Driving a car and hitting a little white ball with a stick come to mind along with my passion, fishing.
It's downtime and I'm apt to watch anything that anybody can imagine being called a sport. Yes, I watched the summer olympic sech prequalifications held in Amsterdam and I simply loved how the French stuck their landings coming off the bar.

anyone can do it, but to do it at the caliber of the professionals is amazing to watch. Really about the only thing impressive about NASCAR is the sheer endurance required to do what they do.
A 90 year old woman and play soccer, play baseball, play football, play basketball...she would suck royally, but she can do it.

I just like to prod golfers and neckcar fans. If those guys weren't the tops in their field there'd be no demand and they'd make nothing doing what they love. I read the economic books. I know a comedian gets rich for demand of his comedy and teachers are a dime a dozen. I know it's not an injustice.
I can't afford golf, I never could spend the time it takes to develop a game. I just didn't have time for another obsession and I knew it would become just that.
I've driven a car to the edge of it's envelope a few times and it's not pleasant anymore.
I'm board cause it's downtime and I'd scratch a wildcats ### in a phonebooth for something to get the blood flowing these days.

That's a solid proposal for a new sport right there.

I think I'm gonna do a driveby on the little local airport and see if they've got someone there who can certify a pilot. I've always wanted to learn to fly and that along with another NC for our Tigers would complete my bucketlist.

I'm pretty big on personal property rights

Which leads me to be a pretty strong proponent of any property owner allowing smoking if he or she wants to.
But there is a much better argument for banning smoking in public due to health risks to non-smokers (again, I don't agree with the argument) then there is for banning folks who want to partake in a stupid contest such as Nathan's. in fact, if we're talking about the damage/injuries to contestants there's a much better argument for banning football.
Though, again, I don't support protecting folks from themselves in almost any instance.
