Veteran college football analyst Phil Steele has unveiled his bowl predictions for the 2012 season, and the big news is that he doesn't have an SEC team in the BCS National Championship Game.
Steele has Florida State facing Oklahoma in the title game, which will be played this season on Jan. 7 in Miami. The SEC has won six consecutive BCS national championships.
The only three SEC teams Steele doesn't have in 2012 bowl games are Kentucky, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt. He does have two SEC teams in BCS bowls -- Alabama and LSU.
Below are all of his bowl predictions for SEC teams:
Tostitos Fiesta Bowl: Alabama vs. Texas
Allstate Sugar Bowl: LSU vs. Michigan State
Capital One Bowl: Georgia vs. Michigan
AT&T Cotton Bowl: Arkansas vs. Oklahoma State
Outback Bowl: Florida vs. Nebraska
Chick-fil-A Bowl: Tennessee vs. Clemson
TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl: South Carolina vs. Iowa
Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl: Auburn vs. Virginia
AutoZone Liberty Bowl: Mississippi State vs. UCF
Advocare 100 Independence Bowl: Texas A&M vs. Miami
BBVA Compass Bowl: Missouri vs. Pittsburgh

11-1 with lone loss to FSU. he has SC finishing 3rd in their division and points out they have not won a conference title since 1969.

There's plenty of talk about FSU D.

I'd have to see them on the field before I make a solid prediction on that game.

as it did for out O to figure things out and after a full year of CCMs' O, I expect us to come out of the gates smoking. Not mad that we faced Trickett instead of EJ last year either, although I haven't been super impressed with the play of Manuel since he became the starter after Ponder graduated. With the added pistol formation our 3rd down conversion should go up too.

He didn't actually predict us to go 11-1 but just said 2 of his main set of power ratings have us 11-1. If he actually thought we'd go 11-1 with the national champ being the lone loss then I'm guessing he'd probably give us an at-large BCS bowl spot.

At 11-1 this year would we get a re-match with FSU

in the MNC if the only other 11-1 team is Boise St? Probably so. The irony of that would be beyond mortal comprehension.

Another year with FSU having high expectations. Will they live up to it? OR will they disappoint like they have done over the last 10 years or so? They got the talent and a decent schedule, so anything is possible. OU has a good shot but the biggest concerns are at WR and DB. They don't have a brutal schedule but are capable of winning all of their games (depends on which team shows up). SEC will be a contender again this year but at some point that streak will end. The question is "who will be the team to knock them off of the top"? A lot of people are predicting Southern Cal to win the PAC 12 and be in the NC game. They play in the weakest division in the PAC 12 and should roll right through it but they do play Oregon (maybe twice) and Stanford.
My conference predictions this year: ACC: FSU Big 12: OU B1G: Michigan PAC 12: Southern Cal SEC: LSU
BCS championship game prediction: Southern Cal vs OU

Here's my theory on FSU's squandering of recent talent.

I think Bobby went senile and Jimbo took over the program four or five years before Bobby retired. As Bobby leaned on Jimbo and listened to his advice things fell apart. I expect since nothing has changed, nothing will change. Jimbo just got promoted one time too many. It will hurt the ACC pocketbook but I don't expect them to be any better this year than last.
I fully expect the coach in waiting thing will bite VT squarely in the butt too. I think we are seeing the stage set for Beamer's retirement and expect them to decline over the next two or three years.
