Stanford has a $32 billion endowment

Stanford has a $32 billion endowment Which they will use to purchase any Olympic sport or non-revenue sport athlete they want. Who is going to want to come to any current ACC school for tennis, golf, Olympic sports, etc. just to finish second to the professional athletes at Stanford. Plus the athletic departments in the ACC that don’t have a $32 billion endowment will be exhausted financially.
Meanwhile, football gets nothing but an exhausting West Coast Road trip every year for a game that will yield no benefit if they win.
Hopefully, this will be a sticking point for legal maneuverings that will enable an exit out of the conference for Clemson and FSU.

I don't understand adding calstansmu but seems its more concrete keeping Clemson, fsu and nc in the acc to me.

Just the opposite, keeps the ACC at 14 teams when Clemson and others leave.

Sometimes you buy the wrong people. You get who you want, but those athletes don’t win all the time. The downside for everyone else is that they win more often than not.
The remainder of the ACC isn’t going to be financially competitive with a $32 billion endowment for these non-revenue sports

They actually aren’t even allowed to use endowments towards athletics in any way, let alone “buying” players… the OP is either a troll or uneducated.

I may be mistaken, but for years Stanford is king of the olympic sports. True they won't win rowing all the time but they're usually in the running.

If you think Stanford uses that endowment to buy any players or contribute anything to sports. The endowment is reserved for school and research use only.

They don’t have to use their $32 billion endowment, the same people who fund that can drop $50 million as they need it for anything else. The endowment is simply an indicator of how far ACC schools are out of their league in the non-revenue sports.

No confusion in your statement there. Alumni at those school with that kind of money are not “boosters”, they donate to endowments for a reason and not to the athletic department. Could they drop 50 million for sports, sure, but they don’t and won’t… why would they decide to do it now vs 5-10 years ago? Because they don’t care about sports.

I believe Stanford athletes have to be admitted on their own academic merits and don't get the benefit of a lower standard because they are athletes like Clemson and most other schools.
Stanford has a brand, if you are a high level Olympic sport athlete and you are are elite academically, Stanford is at the top of your list. They don't need NIL money as an incentive. That's why they win the directors cup every year.
