Taking Dyer would guarantee beating the coots.

Does that change your mind?

taking dyer would do nothing but damage the chemistry of this team. cant believe any true clemson fan would ever want this thug on our team.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

How do you see it damaging the chemistry? He would be

Jul 10, 2013, 11:56 AM

competing for a spot. He would have to earn it and he would have the earn the respect of the team in earning it. As far as a thug I always remember that story of Saul on the way to Damascus.

if you cant see it then there is no use arguing with you. seems pretty clear to me that adding a renegade thug 3 weeks before camp starts sends a clear message to the people currently out there busting their ### every day.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep. And that message would be, "You better work harder

Jul 10, 2013, 11:59 AM

Jul 10, 2013, 12:09 PM

that football is about winning games. Russell Wilson coming in for one year as an essential free agent didn't mess up their team chemistry- they won the Big 10 and went to the Rose Bowl.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

deroberts, usually I agree with you....

Jul 10, 2013, 12:16 PM [ in reply to Re: Yep. And that message would be, "You better work harder ]

But you have to leave SOME room for the plausibility that he may have learned his lesson; if Dabo eve DID let him on the team, Dabo would know that his heart has changed; and that he woudl make a difference on the field. not to be able to admit that shows you're just being obstinate about a simple blog discussion.

O'kay valid response. This may all be just academic as far

Jul 10, 2013, 12:02 PM [ in reply to Re: How do you see it damaging the chemistry? He would be ]

as Dyer is concerned. Clemson may not even be on his radar or vice versa. I am sure Dabo and his coaches will evaluate to make the right decision.

If there is an offense where he could hit the ground running

it would be Auburn's or ours.

going to ruin the chemistry on the team as well. The defensive chemistry is going to be screwed this year with the addition of Alexander and Kearse.

We are doomed.

ENFORCE COMPETITION?

Jul 10, 2013, 12:02 PM [ in reply to Re: ^^^This logic is so ignorant. I guess Dye and Gallman are ]

What is wrong with forcing your starting tailback to earn it?

Just because a player sits for three years behind better players doesn't guarantee him ANY carries. He still has to be the BEST back on the team.

Jul 10, 2013, 11:58 AM [ in reply to Re: Taking Dyer would guarantee beating the coots. ]

Please this team chemistry is built around Boyd. Dyer would have to come in and have to keep is mouth shut. The kid would know he is on his last chance and may have something to prove. If not he will be gone before camp starts. The fact is he is much much much better than any rb will have on the roster.

Re: Taking Dyer would guarantee beating the coots.

Jul 10, 2013, 12:01 PM [ in reply to Re: Taking Dyer would guarantee beating the coots. ]

lol - yeah, the team chemistry would definitely change as soon as Dyer rips off one of his patented 55-yard runs. How quickly a great athlete can be forgiven.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

When I saw Dyer play live in Death Valley

Jul 10, 2013, 12:07 PM

I held my breathe every time he touched the ball. The guy is phenomenal. He would instantly improve our offense.

But Dyer is a far superior person over Spurcock.

Really! Wow... and that's based on...
strength of character?
lifetime achievement?
positive influence on others?
intellect?
acts of charity or community betterment?

When Dyer came out of high school he and Lattimore were generally regarded as #1 and #2 running backs. Dyer may have even had more pure athletic talent. I'm pretty sure he was considerably faster. But I'm confident that USC fans are happy they got Marcus instead of Michael.
I also think Ray Tanner (or whoever is AD when Marcus' playing days are over) will try to get Marcus back as a spokesman/ recruiter/ assistant of some kind because he has displayed a combination of high character, athletic ability and resolve to overcome obstacles.

He has what, a year or two left. We have Dye, Brooks, HotRod and Gallman who will fill the need. Was our defense good or average that year? Wasted scholly if my opinion. Kicked off the team if he has two or more years left.

Can't help but wonder what would be said about the coots if they were discussing taking Dyer. What a hypocritical fan base we have become. The winning ways of the coots really has gotten under Clemson's collective skin. Pathetic I say.

Taking Dyer = NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!!!

Jul 10, 2013, 12:44 PM

Stop acting all high and mighty.... you're the same ones that want to give the Rock Vandal mercy..... Dyer is one of the best powerbacks in the country. If we had him we would be unstoppable...end of story. We won the 81 national doing some questionable stuff, why not get a great player legally?

I trust Dyer more than Bart

Jul 10, 2013, 1:00 PM

Yesterday, there was a awful big headlining article by Bart in our local Sun-news - 'Can Clemson get past its stigma"? In the whole article, not one word was mentioned about LSU win, which in most of the media's mind got us past the "stigma" of "pulling another Clemson.". Where has Bart been? He has an agenda against our Tigers from what little I have read. GO TIGERS. GO AWAY BART! ?about Dyer?

Re: Taking Dyer would guarantee beating the coots.

Jul 10, 2013, 1:43 PM

I believe we will beat them with or without him, but I'll trust Dabo's judgement on whether Dyer would be an asset to our program.
