be out of his gourd to leave Kentucky for SC Coots can't get any respect anywhere.

They better get behind Elliot and give him what he needs in

terms of money to hire new assistance. No one is going to want to take that job knowing that Spurrier couldn't win with these players and that whoever takes this job will constantly be compared to Spurrier. I don't think they're going to have a big pool of willing candidates ready to step in down there. Elliot may end up being their best option for the foreseeable future.

Very, Very Excited. Very, Very Proud.

Always difficult to follow a long term pastor....or coach.

Ask Hatfield...ask Spurrier's replacement in a few years.

In this case though it could be ideal for a guy with some

experience.

You can basically blame your predecessor for the first couple of years (see the "It's Bush's fault" routine) until you can get guys recruited for your system...

Then if it still doesn't work out you can move on to a new school without losing much face, because "If hall of fame coaches can't help S.Car, what did you expect me to do with them."

SCar would be a step up from Kentucky

but not a very big one. It wouldn't make sense at all for Stoops to make that jump when a couple of good seasons where he is could get him a much better job.

I don't know about all of that. Their basketball program has brought in a ton of money lately.

I think their best bet is hire a young coach wanting a chance. No big time coordinator or coach that is currently successful would want to ruin their career going there.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think they should hire Larry Coker

Oct 14, 2015, 4:57 PM

He's won a national championship and he coached at an ACC school at one time, just like their last 2 coaches.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree....

$CU would be a slight step-up from Kentucky but not a significant one.

Finebaum is an idiot

Oct 14, 2015, 5:03 PM

but he's right about the coots and his ranking of the Tigers this year

I heard this today. Take it for what it is, a rumor. A friend of a Blythewood friend of Brandon Wilds said that Spurrier wanted to kick Wilds off the team for not playing against LSU and that some higher up said no.
