Unless you’re talking about winning $25 on scratch off, then I’m going to smoking pig and getting the sampler

As a procedural matter, first what do is call my tax attorney friend, financial planner, and anybody else they recommend to get a strategy setup and everything into place.
But to the meat of the question...what do.
Right off 10% gets set aside for the Big Man. So Foundation setup for our church. Big gift to the local homeless ministry here. I also would love to permanently fund some solid health insurance benefits for the teachers/staff at our kid's daycare because dang if they don't deserve it. And then fund various Christian ministries close to my heart -- prison ministries, inner-city outreach, etc.
Obviously quit work, and I'd like to fill my time (when not enjoying life) overseeing venture capital funding ops, but also starting some nonprofits. I have this dream of a non-profit that buy older used cars, fixes them up, and gives them away. I guess you could buy new cars, but new cars come with an annual tax burden that isn't so great for the people who get them. Used cars would avoid that. I'd also want to work with local tech schools, especially if they have an automotive program (or start one for them) and fund that program which could use the cars as teaching projects. And/or put a bunch of mechanics on staff.
I haven't really thought about if we'd stay around Charlotte. I guess I always assumed we would, but now I'm not sure why if we weren't tied to a job, and would conceivably be able to move our families to wherever we wanted. But new house. Nothing overly big because big houses just get lonely. But nicer and more fun. Perhaps Richie Rich but without the Biltmore.
But honestly the philanthropy side has always been the more interesting aspect of dreaming about the lottery. I guess there's more to it than just "VACAY TIL I DIE." Or, "HOOKERS AND BLOW TIL I DIE," depending on your life status.
The giving away aspect is more exciting too.

I’d load up on tigernet coins because I love them so much <3 <3 <3
Then, I’d keep it all and give none to charity.
Buy lots of land, build some tiny house campuses myself, maybe go all prepper and build underground and hoard food and guns and such.
Once that was all squared away I’d probably find work with a group like Trout Unlimited and do grunt work for cold water fisheries until I was in my 70s-80s. I’d still apply for the job and collect a salary.

Get the estate set up, maintain anonymity and go from there. Pretty solid idea how I'd set up various accounts for kids and what not. % would depend on winning amount.
I'd try to keep my day to day life as similar as possible, except I'd hire a nanny. Although it'd be tempting, I'd try not to move.
I would start acquiring real estate in a few places I'd want them, depending on the win amt.
I'd keep my job as long as could, bc I like my job, and I can keep learning from my boss and learning various #### in the industry. Eventually someone would say some #### and I'd snap. Regardless...I'd seriously start shopping businesses for sale.
There's ways to live off $5-10M and never have to worry about working again. If you're gifted a couple hundred mill...well you might as well get to a bill at that point .

Who’s a brilliant CFA, annd ask her to to determine the investment side. I’d take a huge portion of it and start a non-profit that funds public defender offices representing clients in cases with law enforcement overreach. If Alex Murdaugh gets a first class defense so should anyone else with legit con law issues.
I’d also review the cases from a big ### yacht.

Cash or annuity? 4.88% return built into the annuity now

if you feel secure in getting these, that is a nice return.
After tax with the annuity you would be about $26 million a year every year for 30 years.
I'd still go with the up front payout.
Set up a foundation to put a lot away for charity now, but a foundation allows you to decide who gets it later.

purchasing big homes, hiring maids and cooks for them, new cars, private school for children. I got about ~20 people in mind, all 7 of my kids and 25 grandkids.
I'd buy a lake, 40 or so acres of surface area and ...fish...
That is the reason I refuse to buy a lottery ticket.
I got carried away. I only have ~15 grandkids so I'd buy some more. Message was edited by: ClemsonTiger1988®

Set up a Foundation to fund projects at home and certainly abroad to feed the hungry and bring potable and readily accessible water to the 3rd world.
Probably give a nice chunk to Samaritan's Purse and fund some worthwhile projects in Greenville such as Neighborhood Focus.Fund tutors and private schools for kids at risk in the Upstate, beginning K-3 to increase access to college and professional careers for poor white kids and minorities.
Put a nice chunk aside in a trust for my kids and grandkids but not accessible until age 55 so they don't become totally worthless and move to Asheville.
Some of the "fun tickets" would be a ranch in TX for deer, turkey and quail hunting, trips to Alaska for fishing several weeks a year, the same in Patagonia and New Zealand.
Probably spend the Spring chasing turkeys from FL, out west and finish up the end of May in New England.
Primary Lindsay Graham and only stay in DC for one term.

Look at the stories of those who win the lottery.
There’s a reason I don’t ever play.
Besides the fact it’s a regressive tax, which I oppose on principle.

Yeah, I don't play either, but my libertarian side supports people being able to make bad choices. However, if I had the power in SC, I would pull the money from college scholarships and put it into K-3rd grade projects.

Regressive or not. But gaming as a front for taxation is not a proper role for government.

regressive. I mean rich people can buy a lot more tickets (not that they do of course), but sales tax, is the mother of regressive tax.
