This country will not get better because of him. If it does, it will be because of individual efforts. He is nothing more than a figurehead.

So if we do get better its because of somebody else, but if it gets worse its because of him? Is that right?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes ... and the stupid policies he wants to

Nov 10, 2012, 10:47 AM

implement ... more food stamps, more free stuff, more taxes on the wealthy who provide the jobs, more "penalties" (i.e. taxes) to pay for government (i.e. iefficient) healthcare, etc. Keep that socialized, nanny-state moving forward.

Sounds like an excuse to cut hours seeing as the vast majority of their employees don't receive benefits. As is the case with most part time job based companies.

I think what PJ's was getting at is that the ACA (Obamacare) will require them to provide coverage to employees that qualify as "full-time" or PJ's will face paying a penalty ($2000/yr per worker, more or less). What is not discussed there is that a lot of PJs stores are franchises, which may or may not reach the 50 employee mark, which triggers the penalty provisions of the ACA for employers. For an explanatory graphic regarding the impact of the ACA on employers, see the following:

http://healthreform.kff.org/the-basics/employer-penalty-flowchart.aspx

One thing we are forgetting in all of this discussion of "cost" is that while there may be increased costs to individual businesses, depending on size, types of employees, etc., there will not be much of an increase in spending on healthcare overall. That is to say, when a PJs employee gets sick and ends up in the hospital, someone ends up paying for that employee's care, regardless of whether that care is paid for by a health insurance company. That was true before Obamacare, it will be true after it.

The question is how the costs of that care should be allocated. As it is now, the uninsured PJs employee gets sick, goes to the hospital, incurs expenses, and is unable to pay given the low wages the employee earns at PJs. The hospital and doctors go unpaid, and pass costs on to everyone else as part of their rates. This is to say, those of us who actually pay our medical bills now are paying money to "insure" uninsured PJs employees. What the ACA says is that the employer AND the employee will now be required to chip in towards the employee's health insurance. One thought is that having insurance will encourage people to seek preventative care or have matters treated before they become more serious and more expensive.

All in all, given the continuing rise in medical costs, Obamacare can only reduce the rate of increases, instead of actually reducing medical spending.

Sounds about right. His ideas are killing the USA. With him it's his way or the highway. As bad as I dislike Clinton, he at least tried to work with the opposite party. It all started with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. The country fell apart from that point on.

How can it when the working class is falling like marland QB

Nov 10, 2012, 10:51 AM [ in reply to Re: I will not follow him. As an adult, I can lead myself. ]

's........you need to wake up along with all Obama lovers, this country was built on Working people, NOT living off the gubment, this country will not be a republic much longer, too many people rely on gov't hand outs..........it can only last so long.....its common sense, hard for liberals to understand

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

why must we "get behind him" if we do not agree with him???

Nov 10, 2012, 11:51 AM [ in reply to He is our leader for the next 4 years, ]

If he's going to make this country worse we should fight against it. He does not get a "free run" to run this country into the ground just because he won.

Re: why must we "get behind him" if we do not agree with him???

Nov 10, 2012, 12:31 PM

Because if you spend the next four years fighting him at every turn *you* (or the policy makers actually fighting him) will see exactly what it means to run a country into the ground.
