night game parking debacle

Oct 15, 2013, 2:29 PM

What are the chances we'll be out of the parking lots in under two hours this time? I hope the SCHP reviewed the procedure they used for the Georgia game and threw that out the window. That was ridiculous!

They're used to Columbia emptying quickly.

Lots of traffic after the third quarter and the fear of being shot gets everyone else in their cars and out of town FAST.

That is why I park further from the stadium and simply walk a bit further. Yes, it is inconvenient but it certainly makes getting out of there at the end of the game much more manageable.

And it's cheaper.***

Anywhere you can park that you are not stuck in a large area

lot will speed departure. No doubt about that! Even if the walk is longer you come out better after an 8pm game.

None. I live in Gastonia and we did not get home after the Georgia game till 5am. This time we are planning on eating after the game to let the traffic go down. We thought we would prefer to sit at our tailgate than to sit in a car in traffic.

Not much can be done about it. Its just the nature of campus

There are only a few roads out, and there is no way to make things go much quicker than they do.

If you don't leave the game quickly, you will not get out

in a reasonable time from an area lot. Simple as that. After night game most are headed straight out instead of hanging out on the field or tailgating some more before leaving for home. There is not a good way to handle everyone leaving at once. Might make sense to have another plate of food and wait it out!
