Rob homerun Hughes. He's not the closer. Not sure why we're trying to make him that. I knew it as soon as he came in.

I hate to agree but I have to. I didn’t have a warm and fuzzy feeling about it. He only has one pitch and it happens to be a belt high kinda fast ball.

Let’s take the next 2 games. Maybe Miami doesn’t have another pitcher than can go like Ziehl did tonight.

The last one I can remember was Gilbert and Spiers. What would they be with the coaching they're getting now?

But what we need is a Matt Campbell. He's the last true strikeout closer I can remember. The man had a stinky slider and knew just when to throw his outpitch. Then again that's about the last time I could go to games.

Ok, I'll shut up. I know it's all about the bball.

Couldn't agree more. We lack the guy that can come in and just mow hitters down. There have been a handful of games where the opposition was able to rally in the ninth. The coot series comes to mind. It seems that when Hughes struggles early with control, he starts grooving fastballs to avoid walks. That's when last night happens.

To end on a positive note, the fielding % is improving. Ciufo made some nice plays last night. The bonehead errors on routine grounders that plagued the Tigers this time last season seem to be resolved.

Oh well, let's go take these next 2 and move on!
