NOTRE DAME...

Aug 11, 2015, 2:23 PM

First off, I AM NOT a Notre Dame fan, hate that they have always ridden on their history over the last 10 or 20 years, but don't let Malik Zaire's mouth make you lose focus of the talent on this Notre Dame team.

I watched their Music City Bowl win from last year against LSU. LSU was supposed to be the best defense in the SEC (for what that's worth). I felt ND just did whatever they wanted. I realize it was a last second field goal for the win, but in the first half, ND just ran the ball down their throats and threw the ball whenever/wherever they wanted. Notre Dame's defense had lost 11 players for the year with another 3 injured when they played this game. If they had a solid D, LSU may not have scored except for their kick-off return.

Looked like they ran a lot of similar plays to Clemson. Jet sweeps off tackle or around the end and Zaire and the backs running the ball on a delayed run up the middle. Their backs/receivers looked fast and with good moves.

I'm sure Coach V will be ready for this game. Hope our offense is clicking on all cylinders too. Not looking past Louisville, well, maybe a little, but we all know that if Clemson and ND go into this game undefeated, it will be a huge game with National attention.

SPOT THE BALL!!! CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE DEFENSE MAKE A RUN FOR #1 AGAIN!!!

Yeah but,

LSU didn't want to be there. Didn't you know that?!?! ;)

Will be the best team we play this year besides the playoffs. :-)***

Not as good as FSU.

Aug 11, 2015, 2:27 PM

Don't fool yourself. ND is trying to get there. FSU has been there since BB was fired.

After last years bowl performances, the $EC made it clear...

Aug 11, 2015, 2:48 PM

that unless one of their teams is playing for a national championship, bowl games are completely meaningless and none of their teams really want to be there.

NOTRE DAME.lost 5 of their last seven games last

Aug 11, 2015, 2:59 PM

Year. They lost to FSU, Arizona State, Northwestern, Louisville and USC 5 of their last 6 games of their regular season they lost.

I would say LSU wasn't a great team last year. I'd be careful to call them great. The best team they lost to was FSU and it was 31-28( I think that's right) a close game. We should have beat FSU, we really wrapped that game up and handed a gift to the 'holes last year. We beat Louisville and I believe we could have beaten Northwestern, USC and Arizona State.

I would not judge this year by the last game last year especially when they lost 5 of the last 7 games. If we lost 5 of our last 7 would our win over OU in the bowl game make us world destroyers. I don't buy it.

Notre Dame is making a comeback but they were only one game better than the coots last year. I believe a game against them at home will be one we will win by two touchdowns. They don't have a Deshaun Watson and the best WR's in the country. Our defense will shut them down. Just my opinion.

Go Tigers!

Yes, We should have won if not for our own mistakes.

ND got robbed by a BS call.

Both teams outperformed FSU in FSU.

Re: NOTRE DAME...

Notre Dame has a lot of raw talent, but is untested in some areas. Let's start at QB, where Zaire has a lot of raw talent, but not a lot of game experience. Is he going to get ruffled under pressure? Only time will tell.
The DL and safety position are also a concern. While a lot of guys received game day experience last year, due to a wave of injuries, the safeties were out of position--a lot. ND did not put a whole lot of pressure on opposing QB's last year, either. ND is really going to need to shore up those areas, if ND is to be successful this year.

Eff Notre Dame and the horses the Four Horsemen rode

Aug 11, 2015, 3:46 PM

in on. Oh yeah, and eff them too. Notre Dame's fanbase and alumni are the biggest bunch of arrogant SOB's in any sport. Can't stand them. They brought the wrath on them when Devine decided he wanted to show his ### in Death Valley. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Eff Notre Dame, eff Knute Rockne, eff the four horsemen, eff Rudy, eff The Gipper, eff Dan Devine. Hope they never win another game as long as they continue to play football.

You are a broken record. One questions how many ND alums you have actually ever met.

Yeah, he is apparently still miffed about something Dan Devine did a mere 38 years ago, in 1977.

3 actually. Met them at a restaurant in Charleston last

Aug 11, 2015, 4:08 PM [ in reply to Re: Eff Notre Dame and the horses the Four Horsemen rode ]

year. One of them spotted me on the way out wearing my Clemson hat. He stopped me and asked me about the game next year. I said I thought the toughest games on our schedule were FSU and GT. He then of course started spouting off at the mouth. Said he couldn't wait for Notre Dame to come to Death Valley and show those rednecks how football is really supposed to be played while his buddies snickered at the table.

Just reaffirmed everything I always thought.

Why sure. One single Notre Dame alum (if the guy was even a Notre Dame alum) is indicative of all Notre Dame people. We all think and talk absolutely alike, just like robots. If his buddies were snickering at the table, they were probably snickering at the guy, not at anything else.

I think that a lot of fanbases have the mindset that they are the best fans out there.

Yeah. I too remember Devine's antics...but one of my friends

says his trip to ND, where he sat in the midst of Domers was his best away game experience ever. Of course it didn't hurt that we won the game.....still the ND guys around him were very cordial and gracious! Liker a lot of schools, some of the most rabid and obnoxious fans never sniffed the camp of the school they pull for. That's OK, we love all of our Tiger fans....most anyway!

Last year. Kinda gave up after that tough loss to fsu, but put it together for the bowl game. Just like every team, they will get up to play Clemson and treat it as their game of the year. Notre Dame has a tough schedule but they respect us, were already in Zaire's head.

Of course ND respects you. IMO, Clemson and USC are the two toughest games on the schedule. I really don't think that is much in dispute.

probably a good guy, I don't for a second believe that notre dame fans have any respect for Clemson.

I have a lot of respect for the history of ND. However, they need to actually join the ACC or just f-off. Until they are all-in, they can bite my ###.

Should be a good game though.

I am on ND message boards all the time. Most posters think Clemson is going to be a very tough game for us.

"rough game" does not equal respect. I hope

Aug 11, 2015, 8:53 PM

you get to come to the game. Clemson is known for it's hospitality...Unless you are a USCe fan.

Hopefully we will earn some respect that day.

I also hope that ND actually joins the conference. If they don't, I hope y'all lose everything. It's a slap in our faces that our esteemed ACC leadership have allowed ND to be a kinda-sorta member.

Best D in the SEC was Ole Miss

Aug 11, 2015, 4:33 PM

But that got shot to h3ll quickly when TCU trounced them. Land Sharks turned into the Land Sharts in that game.

I respect every opponent and ND will be a tough game. Clemson will hopefully be undefeated then and definitely won't look past them if they are serious about playing for a national championship. Coach V has already stated how great ND's o-line is and how difficult a challenge it will be to stop them.

It might be hard to get up for the WF game, but I KNOW everyone in DV will be JACKED UP to beat the Irish.

GO TIGERS!

Thanks Domer. I actually live 30 min from campus just across the border in Michigan. Wife's side of the family has several St Mary's and Notre Dame alumns. I moved up a couple of years ago to the area (wife's fault). I go to a couple of games a year. I can say that in my observation I've rarely if ever seen anything more than a little old fashioned running of visitors. I always have had a good time. I can tell you the UNC fans I met last year in SB were ########. Then again perhaps I was giving off a Clemson vibe although I wasn't wearing orange.

We are all at these games to pull for our schools. I have been all over the country to watch ND play. I have been treated great at most places, and terribly at a few places.
Don't most of us want to treat guests at our schools as we would guests to our homes? Don't we want people going back to wherever home is and saying that the fans of whatever school they visited were great hosts?

The winner of GT/ND game will be our toughest game. That does not imply that either team is great or unbeatable. The winner of that game will simply be our toughest opponent.

FSU will be a bump in the road and will be curb-stomped in DV.
UL will be tough, but they are missing too much and won't hang with our guys.

We will have several tough games, but those are our toughest IMO.
