Advice on good bars and parking
Sep 4, 2014, 2:10 PM
|
|
Okay, I'm a UGA fan but have been pretty decent on this board and hope you guys can win out. So, with all the new Clemson knowledge I have, my buddy and I decided, why not go to a game? UGA has an open week. I've been to your campus tons of times but never to a game at DV, and I know it's a great tradition that shouldn't be missed. We even have orange shirts to wear. I realize you're playing SC State, a total blowout, but still, it's your opening home game and we want to experience this. Any suggestions on parking and a couple of good bars to check out?
I trust you..
Thanks!

Please don't cross the lake. You're not welcome.

However, if you do make it across the lake... Go to Mac's and order a milkshake.

the best 3 bars that I would suggest are The Esso Club, TD's

and Tiger Town Tavern. You may want to buy a parking pass here on TigerNet or there is some public parking here and there.

Downtown is fairly small, and all of the bars are concentrated in one area (other than Esso). Tmail me your phone number and if you make the trip I can hook you up with two tickets for free. Had some friends back out and I would much rather help someone than try to sell them or help a scalper.

Capitalist.
Unless you are giving them the 1st hit free knowing they will come back to pay whatever you ask later.

If you need one, T-mail me as well. You can have one, just have to meet me at my gate. I get 8 to each game and am not going to go through the pain and trouble of trying to sell them when they aren't worth much for this game.
Good Dawg seems like a good dude, why not show him some Clemson hospitality?

I usually try to sell any spares but I won't be getting to Clemson until shortly before the game so not really worth the trouble.

But yes. My girlfriend finally has an excuse to stay at home from the game so looking to be just me. If nobody on T-Net wants them I was going to literally hand them out before I walk in the gate.

If you are going to go downtown....

to TD's and Tiger Town as has been suggested, the closest public parking lot is probably Douthit Hill which is just off Highway 93 near the Clemson House as you're entering the campus. This would be a reasonably short walk to downtown. While there are some parking gargaes downtown (Keith Street and Sloan Street), on game days, they are reserved for permit holders only. The Esso Club is a little further down Highway 93 going toward the stadium. You can stop there after the game on the way back to your car.

really anywhere. I personally go downtown to avoid the esso because it's always so packed and you have your pick of great bars so it really comes down to your personal preference. Hope you enjoy the game, hopefully we won't get rained on but it's not looking to promising.

Thanks so much for all of the great information! I took notes and will be definitely going to a couple of these places.
Actually, I've always been kind of a Clemson fan. Moved from NJ to Atlanta for my last year of high school and almost went to Clemson as a wrestler, but the program was dropped, so I stayed in-state at UGA. The only schools I really don't like are Florida, due largely to Spurrier, so naturally, I don't like USC at ALL for the same reason, which I figured would be okay to state here....but it's really true. We know we'll have a great day.

Also TD's, Esso for bars. You probably will enjoy going to Loose Change, 356, and Wingin' It also.
