brewing earlier this season with Clowney, when he made comments about the "defense being a team effort," rather than an "individual effort."
Interestingly enough, Lorenzo Ward was surprised Clowney sat out, and Spurrier has adopted a "if he wants to play, O.K.; if not, O.K." attitude.
Maybe, my mind fails me, but it's difficult to recall a scholarship player being allowed to decide whether of not he wants to participate. And that's said without disparaging Clowney's abilities.

there were reports during the offseason (that I thought were made up) that basically clowney was going to try to sit out this season to protect his health. maybe they weren't totally erroneous

So to recap - Boyd - bruised thumb = beautiful TD pass; Watkins - bruised hip = super Sammy 91 yd TD reception; Shaw - sprained shoulder = returns in 1 week instead of 2 to help his team scrape by a weaker Kentucky; Doo Doo - bruised ribs = too sore and bench riding
Playing through the pain shows the character of a man and TEAM player! Sure glad we have BEASTLY and not the CLOWN
