It's a Culture Shift

Nov 6, 2022, 8:22 AM

We are still 8-1, so let's remember that, however the last 3 years we have not been a physical program on the OL and even DL as we were prior. If we are going to get back to CU football it starts and stops in the trenches. DJ struggled, but he no time because our WR can't get open and our OL gets gapped. How do I fix it, get out of that tajmahall football facility and get back to basics and that starts with physicality and controlling the first 3 yards of every play

When college football took the “Paw drill” away from us (every college team) is when the program started to soften.

The OL was never consistently physical in the last 10 years.

What are you talking about? No time to throw. I literally counted to 5 in a replay of a sack DJ took. He was stuck in mud again. No internal clock to tell him to go make a play bc everyone was either covered or he just didn’t want to throw it. He had enough time. He’s just not a true mobile QB. It’s not his nature. Sure we force him to run some, but he doesn’t think to use his legs enough when needed unless it’s a designed qb run. What about the passes in the first half that were highly inaccurate to the boundary? With that said, the coaches and the team had two weeks to prepare and it was disgusting to see what they came up with. We played scared on offense which is becoming increasingly more common. We’re nowhere near as explosive on offense like we once were. We didn’t try to push the ball downfield at all in the first half. Didn’t try to use the middle of the field at all. Like none. No TEs. Williams is our best WR and he’s a freshman so there’s that.
