Is the ACC as bad as the SEC?
Jul 21, 2012, 4:30 PM

For many years, many on TigerNet have pointed out that the integrity of the ACC was so much higher than the SEC.
We of the ACC were the golden boys of college athletics and they, the SEC, were the unprincipled brutes.
But with the problems at UNC and Miami (again) is the ACC that much different than the SEC?

Unfortunately for the rep of the ACC, one of the programs in

trouble is UNC, so Mr. Swofford's hands are tied in terms of discipline.
I would say that the cheating in the SEC feels more like a general unspoken rule...more woven into their standard operating procedures. But no question that Miami and UNC's programs are way out of line right now. More so than any SEC program I can think of.

The "academic fraud" at UNC is very discouraging since that is what the ACC takes the most pride in.

through what UNC is currently going through, I would guess that Swofford would be pushing the investigation. He takes great pride in the academic integrity of the ACC (as he should). But it's UNC...so...ya know...

They're tied with his unwillingness to come down hard on

the most blatant academic corruption that the ACC has ever seen because he is, ultimately, a Tar Heel himself. But because he won't do his job with respect to UNC, he can't come down hard on Miami...so both will skirt by from an ACC perspective.

Hell, no. UNC is on probation for probably the first time since the fifties. South Carolina is on probation for the third time in ten years. Miami is in, well, Miami. Its a different kind of place down there. I think they will always have problems. Its the culture.

The SEC is really loyal when it comes to its conference, something stinks in the SEC time will eventually catch them.Plus Miami had these issues way before they entered the ACC.Also Butch Davis, did he ever coach at the U?

The SEC knows how to cheat. The ACC is a bunch of...

naive maroons who don't know the limits. Clemson squeaky clean without necessity and UNCheat two tokes over the line. UM seem to not know what the rules really are.
You can bet the SEC schools have statisticians working on the probability of getting caught.

The SEC minus ALA has never had the history of violations the ACC has. Just look at Miami, NC, FSU and Clemson. SEC's violation has been peanuts considering what these ACC teams have committed. Miami should get the death penality and Free Shoe U should be right behind them. Clemson deserved it back in its only glory years.

Alabama is the reason for NCAA rules Auburn is right there with them Miss St cheated under King Jackie SCar has had more probations than Clemson. They cheated under Lou Holtz and Spurrier. Florida cheated under Pell who is the one that got Clemson in trouble. Spurrier walked into the team that Pell paid for. If you don't think LSU and UT are cheating, I got some ocean front property in Moncks Corner I can sell ya.
