NBC radio just interviewed Pete Roussel about the UT job
Dec 17, 2013, 2:27 PM

Roussel runs coachingsearch.com. He was asked by the host about the Texas job and his first answer was that the AD will almost certainly want to talk to both Jimbo and Dabo, and gave as his reason the fact that both are good with the media and would flourish in the head coach's media relations role. In other words, they both like to talk.
He seemed to suggest that the 2 of them are very much primary candidates. I was surprised frankly. I've sort of viewed Dabo as the kind of guy who would be a back-up candidate for Texas, not an A list guy. I realize this is just 1 guy's opinion, but I found it interesting nonetheless.

Dabo would do quite well at Texas IMO.

Stunned about the Jimbo assessment. I think he comes off as a buffoon with the media. I certainly hope Texas gets him.

I kind of agree with you there. I think Dabo is actually the more polished of the two.

You think Winston stays more than 1 more year anyway?

I think he leaves for the NFL after next year, unless he has a disastrous year.

I've heard the names....

Pete Carrol, Charlie Strong, Jim Harbaugh, Chip Kelly, Urban Meyer, and Mike Tomlin mentioned but I suspect the majority of those are simply part of a Texas wish list.

Would draw a little to much "attention" from the NCAA.

meaning that he can't have anything to do with athletics at the NCAA level until july 2014, so texas couldn't hire him until then.

He didn't think Shaw would leave Stanford.

I also saw earlier today where Charlie Strong told an Orlando writer he didn't have any interest in leaving UL. I think Dabo may end up being higher on UT's "realistic list" than many would have originally thought.

I wonder if Strong is just saying that to the public

Hard to imagine he wouldn't even entertain the UT job if approached. After Bridgewater leaves it may be tough going for Louisville for a while. And UT is one of the few schools that could boost Strong's pay over the current - about $3.7 mil.

Agree, but supposedly he feels very loyal to UL since a lot of schools kept passing on him back in the day and he appreciates that UL gave him a shot. Also, UL does have money.

I really don't see Dabo taking the job. He feels like this his his home. Clemson gave him a chance after being fired by Bama and then again after Bowden left. He has some loyalty there. He probably would only leave Clemson for Bama and that probably wont ever happen. But if he does leave I say we go after Kirby Smart from Bama. Clemson's best coaches have come from Bama and I was telling a Bama fan that today and he fighting mad. He would rather lose Saban to Texas than Kirby. They know that Saban is only winning with because of Kirby's defense.
