I found the right word

Nov 25, 2012, 10:49 PM

Was talking to a friend who bets like me on pro ball and sometimes college. His take on Clemson: It looks like between the coaches and the offense, once things got tough and the first interception was thrown everyone just got paralyzed. It looked to him like they even got a less aggressive. Almost like they realized they were in over their heads. Psychological not talent problems.

That summarized the end of last year and no word works better than paralyzed. It looks like it started again this year. We'll see in the bowl game. And I'm praying for Vandy instead of LSU in Atlanta.....

I agree

I've sensed during Dabo's tenure (and Bowden's for that matter) that our confidence as a team seems very fragile and easily crushed in adversity. I thought I saw an improvement to that in the NC State, but then I just realized it was that NC State's defense sucks so bad that it didn't matter. Their defense is a big open female reproductive orifice (similar to ours).

We played a tough team that brought some pain twice this season, and we folded both times like a cheap Wal-Mart tent. That goes back to preparation and plain old mental acuity. I'm effing sick of seeing our defense scrambling around like a chinese fire drill just as the ball is snapped, only to see us give up a wide open pass or a big QB run.

But our defense actually played in the game

If was our offense that folded like a cheap tent and no one was able to find the dang tent pole. Or it was more like they didn't know they needed to go find it. Why not scramble more plays? Why not play a series of no huddle? Why not try any crazy crap just to change the tempo???

Tajh screwed the pooch on that last interception, true...

But our offense was barely able to get on the field, especially in the 4th quarter, because we kept giving up 3rd and long, time after time. Our defense is clueless, confused, and evidently brain-dead in the secondary. I'm sick of it. That's recruiting and coaching. By game twelve they shouldn't be so effing confused.

"And I'm praying for Vandy instead of LSU in Atlanta..... "

Oh but everyone says you should play the toughest opponent. What happens if Vandy beats you. That mentality says it all for the ACC. Beat the weak and pray you dont play anyone with a pulse.

There is a good chance playing LSU would look just like the past 2 SC games and the Orange Bowl last year. At least with Vandy there is less of a chance Boyd becomes the 'concrete deer' (Morris' words) right away if at all. They aren't a defensive power house after all.

Lack of coaching experience

We have one of the youngest staffs in the country.

Ford had a young staff also.... remember?***
