Houston was the worst thing for KJ Mcdaniels

Mar 29, 2016, 10:07 PM

Such a shame to his talent wasting on the bench...where the freakin heck is his minutes? Trade his axe if u never are gonna play him.freakin sucks. Trade him back to the sixers if u don't need him

Sorry to burst your bubble, but he's just not that good. He produces some spectacular highlight plays here and there, but he's shooting the 3 at an abysmal 22% clip and he can't really generate his own offense off the dribble. He has a lot of work to do if he ever wants significant PT at that level.

kinda hard to hit a groove when u play 3 minutes a game.

Mar 29, 2016, 11:28 PM

There's no room on that team for him. Those numbers go up with PT. he's never gonna be Kobe Bryant but he is a great defender, rebounder, and driver. He just is in a situation where he's lost in the shuffle. His spot on the 76ers was great. He got PT, he produced, the team suckt but he was a productive player. But there is nothing for him in Houston.

KJ left a year early. He would have improved most or all of his game points with the last year at Clemson. But the big $$$$ and his mom's ambition to hit the NBA tour got him out.

He does need to get traded but realize he is not going to be the franchise player in that league with a contending team.

KJ was never going to be a franchise player and 1 more

Mar 30, 2016, 8:17 AM

year at Clemson wouldn't have helped him significantly. I don't know why some of y'all seem to think that 1 more year of college ball will magically fix any deficiencies a player has. KJ was never going to be a great shooter.

He has a skill set that CAN contribute, but he does need a new situation.

He does fine when he actually plays. He is in a place where they have a log jam at his position and has nothing to do with his talent. You're bursting someone else's bubble while being completely wrong yourself. How is that? They invested in him thinking they wouldn't resign a couple of guys. He's getting better in practice while getting paid very well.

I hope Bgame learns something from this. He isn't ready to be a hit in the NBA either and would really benefit from another year in the ACC. I think that KJ was better prepared for pro ball that Jaron and he left too early also.imo.
Hard to turn that kind of money down however. I couldn't do it andneither could any of you.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I am not sure what I think about that...

Mar 30, 2016, 8:04 AM

KJ may have never been ready. The Sixers were one of the worst teams in NBA hitory, so of course he was going to have his moments there. He left early and he has made a lot of money. Maybe he made the right call. Tough to say, but I am leaning towards that another year wouldn't have made that much difference as far as him being a thriving NBA player. As far as Blossongame, I obviously hope he returns. There is no telling how it will work out for him in the NBA. That's a tough one to predict. I hope he returns. I think we finally are a NCAA tournament team with him if he returns. As far as what his best interest is, who knows?

Blossomgame is a better shooter who doesn't rely strictly on

his athleticism. His skills are more developed at this point that KJ's were. He's a much better 3 point shooter than KJ ever has been. KJ could simply use his superior athleticism.

KJ was amazing when he played for Philly. Several teams wanted him bad in free agency, but the Rockets overpaid him so other teams couldn't sign him. His rookie highlights with Philly were amazing. I hope he gets far away from Houston when his contract is up.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It won't be much different wherever he goes, unless...

Mar 30, 2016, 8:08 AM

the team is terrible. He was a factor with the Sixers, because they were the Sixers. If he went to the Spurs, Golden State, and so many more, he wouldn't see the minutes either. Maybe he needs to go to a team like Phoenix? If I were him I would head to Europe and thrive and make some cash. He could thrive there.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Who he played for doesn't matter.

Mar 30, 2016, 8:13 AM

To dismiss what done in those highlights against the best players in the world isn't fair to him. KJ is a good player, and absolutely made the right decision for him and his family.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It happens all the time in the NBA aganst the best players

Mar 30, 2016, 8:24 AM

in the world. Players always thrive on bad teams and then when they go to a quality team they barely play of their numbers drop. Those are some good highlights, but it takes way more than that. I've scene K,J's scenario hundreds of times through the years. There is a player on the Lakers named Jordan Clarkson who is averaging 15 points per game and is a starter. If he ever goes to a quality team he will average 6 max and won't start. You look at even an All Star like Kevin Love, he put the numbers because he was on the Twolves. K.J. will only thrive if he goes to an awful team. That said, if he can just stay in the MBA for ten tear, no matter what his minutes are, he should be thrilled. If wants a big role as far as PT, it will happen in a place like Europe. He has a pretty good gig now though financially.

Of course he's not going to play on a stacked team. I said trade him to a team that he'll have a chance to play on. What's wrong with playing for a bad team? He will at least play and make the nba bearable to watch.

NBA contracts are fully guaranteed. Even if they send him to the D-League for the next two seasons, Houston will pay him $10 million. He'll have earned over $10.5 million as an NBA player before his 26th birthday. Second guessing that is foolishness.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

True...

Mar 30, 2016, 8:35 AM

If Blossongame was guaranteed to eventually get 10.5 million he should go. That said, that may not happen. KJ made the right call though in hindsight.
