From here on out..

Oct 9, 2023, 12:19 PM

I think going to your profile when I see something dumb or perhaps great. It will tell me everything I need to know. If you were on this board BEFORE 2015, I’ll take your comments a tad more seriously. Anybody could’ve been a Clemson fan after 2016. I was in The Valley the last time Wake Forest beat us. I didn’t move from my seat until just about every left the stadium. I had more appreciation and love for the Tigers then, than some of you do now!

It’s not all sunshine and rainbows by any means but some of these comments are lazy and pathetic. Buncha keyboard warriors.

I was there during the Tommy West debacle. Our games with SC became the “toilet bowl.” And what a disappointment TB ended up. Teams were as soft as Charmin. I do not take Dabo’s coaching era for granted.

You’re dead on! If you haven’t lived through it your don’t understand it. Growing up in Tigertown, and seeing Frank and Red and Hootie and Ken and Tommy 1 and Tommy 2 go through seasons that could make you think that maybe Clemson was never going to be relevant in football?

Danny gave us hope and a championshipa, Dabo has given us belief and two championships.

I’m thankful I was born a Tiger, life is good.

When Duke beat us by 3 touchdowns. That's when I decided to enjoy wins and knock it off the with complaining.

There is no single simple fix or it would've been fixed by now... we're just not elite this year.

I think Dabo's rhetoric plays with fans' minds. For the record, he is missing a few digits when he says we're 3 plays away from being undefeated.

Been a fan since 1979, when I was 11. Just figuring out that I loved sports and was looking for who I liked. Been tough years at times. I was a basketball fan foremost. Being a Clemson fan in basketball is and has always been torture. It is ok to complain and demand better. I hate reading this people who are only old enough to remember the past decade and then comment, showing they know little.

We’re the same age, and like you, I was a Clemson bball fan first. Loved the old ACC hoops scene, even though we had little success. 1980 was glorious though.

Re: From here on out..

Oct 10, 2023, 8:53 AM

Yeah it was. I grew up in NC then and basketball was king. All the NC teams were great and Maryland and Virginia were great as well. Grew up shooting hoops on the back basketball pad pretending to lead Clemson to National Championship.

I made my own backboard but it was Carolina Blue because I used pool paint to keep it from decay. Rode by a couple years ago and it still is standing there 35-40 years later. Good paint I guess haha

This is an internet sports message board where fans come to discuss the plusses and minuses of Clemson Football.

You don't need to have sat through the Danny years, or be an ex-D1 player or coach to be able comment on what you see. Be wrong, be emotional, get excited, and get disappointed. I think it's all on the table.

About the only thing I think shouldn't be tolerated are personal attacks. Some of you, that's all you do - talk about lazy.

But if you came on an internet sports message board to qualify who should or shouldn't get a voice or what opinion they can have about this or that, then more than likely this isn't the forum for you.

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No personal attacks should include the coaches as well, yes?

Oct 10, 2023, 8:10 AM

Did you TU the post last year calling Dabo a liar?

IDK the answer, but that was only the tip of the personal attacks on coaches et al surrounding the program.

And I do understand the difference between cheeky-funny and evil-stupid.

TigerNet will not tolerate hateful speech, degrading remarks, or personal attacks made about other posters, athletes/coaches/faculty at Clemson, or anyone else.

Re: No personal attacks should include the coaches as well, yes?

Oct 10, 2023, 8:33 AM

I appreciate the the passion everyone has for Clemson Football. Just to clarify a couple of things:

1. I have never personally attacked a poster on this board unless it was a response to one. My critiques or praises are always about gameplay, strategies, and decisions, never about the character of individuals.

2. As for the "Thumbs Up" system, I interact with a myriad of posts daily, and I honestly can't recall every single one I've given a TU to. It's a casual engagement tool, not a testament to my deep-seated beliefs or values.

3. I find it a bit peculiar that you'd remember specific TUs from potentially thousands of interactions on here. We're all fans, and while we might not always see eye to eye, I'd hope our shared love for Clemson would be the focal point rather than dissecting individual post interactions.

Lastly, the goal here is a healthy discussion about our team's highs and lows. Let's try to keep the focus on that and less on pointing fingers or questioning each other's fandom. Go Tigers!

Re: No personal attacks should include the coaches as well, yes?

Oct 10, 2023, 9:14 AM

1. I doubt you'd find everyone agrees with you on that as your idea of a personal attack is likely different from many and certainly in degree, but I appreciate your thoughts. The world has become a wasteland of the easily offended and overly emotional.

2. Even Mo-pho catches himself pointing something he wished he hadn't, because he doesn't read. Over the years it seems most consider it approval or at least that has seemed the prevailing thought. I do +1 particulars in a post even if I might not agree with the conclusions. I value a good, reasoned argument from most any, there are exceptions as those individuals long ago lost any and all integrity in mine eye. Still I read everything and understand it's impact, it's a curse.

3. Speaking of that curse, there's very little I don't remember and if there's something I don't, it's mostly things I decide not to commit to memory for any number of reasons, usually it's baseless refuse. I'm a predator of knowledge, one of my many drugs is tireless research and study, so yes, I'm very aware of where contributors seemingly stand and their histories. Especially those here that I consider the emotionally encumbered. It's often a blessing and has served me well, but mostly it is a curse.

Healthy discussion does not include the pathos the permeates this board and oozes from too many here. Logos & Ethos should rule this world and that, but so few make those tools their standards.

Go Tigers!

Firstly, I genuinely respect the depth and thought you bring to your posts. We all have our unique ways of expressing our passion for Clemson, and I appreciate the intellectual approach you often take.

You're right; definitions of personal attacks can vary from one individual to another. I aim to be respectful in my comments and critiques, though emotions can sometimes get the better of me. I appreciate your call-outs as they keep me grounded and remind me to be more introspective.

The "Thumbs Up" system, while seemingly simple, does come with its nuances. In hindsight, there may have been times I reacted too quickly without fully processing a post. It just something to need to get better at not doing, but at 53 I doubt there is much hope! haha

Your ability to remember and Clemson knowledge truly impressive (the Monahan post was insane). While it may feel like a curse at times, it's evident that it also brings a unique depth to your interactions here. I admire that.

My emotional attachment to this university and team sometimes means I wear my heart on my sleeve. It's a double-edged sword that brings both immense joy and frustration. But, conversations like these remind me of the diverse and passionate community we have on this board.

Thanks for keeping the dialogue insightful and challenging. It's discussions like these that elevate the discourse.

Go Tigers!

I think there are some very passionate fans who get a little volatile during the game, and many say things in the moment that they regret (myself included)....but after the smoke clears and games are final, I'd like to think that the true fans are those who come to TNET to read about their Tigers and enjoy some conversation, both good and bad, about the Clemson Tigers.

But a fan is a fan is a fan. We cannot all be as controlled and smooth as FM/DSP/Hitslikerendricktaylor and many others that set a great example. It takes all kinds, and while my TNET history isn't as orange-colored as many others, my fandom of Clemson is X-treme!!

Our fans are getting more and more annoyed each week with the lack of progress with our rushing game. Our offensive line rushing performance is dropping with each successive week. This team should be rushing at a 200-300 yards per game by this time halfway through our season - Where are they?
