Very few portal transfers have had better success after leaving Clemson. It begs the question, should they waited to be next man up?

Maybe, just maybe, Dabo knows these players have hit their peak or haven't put in the effort to be a starter. Maybe Dabo let's them know they have a ways to go and they just cash it in thinking they are better than they are. After the brutal honesty conversation they hit the portal. Definitely a run of players that hit portal and don't have success.

Well he was good player but couldn't stay healthy. He never played a full season for them. He would have been better off at Clemson likely because he would have split more snaps and maybe survived a season.

Clemson has successfully used the portal to politely assist under performing players who have been out recruited to go to a lower level of football where they can enjoy Saturday afternoons with a dirty uniform, playing at a lower level.

Makuba is an exception

Having poor players leave to go to lower schools is indicative of too many recruiting missees

I would rather have players transferring out and starting at a high-level somewhere else, because they could not find the field at Clemson, or they simply took money to leave. That would at least indicate that we were recruiting high level players.

All of the ‘good’ CFB programs have players transferring out.

Calling those out-bound transfers as ‘miss’ recruits is a bit unfair. Good players get beat out by better players.
