Doesn't seem like UCF gets much credit here but their season

Jan 11, 2014, 12:25 PM

meets all the criteria of a great season according to Tiger fans?
12-1
Won a BCS game
Conference champs
Only loss to a top 5 team

Why no love for the Knights?

treated like boise's first great run when people thought it was a a one-off. it UCF sustains like boise did, respect will certainly come.

Good comparison. It also seems like Louisville was "accepted" immediately by most folks, but they have had at least a couple good years I guess.

What game? It is a discussion, dude. Familiar with the concept?
Tennessee is awful and deserves no credit whatsoever. We lost to them. It was a terrible game. We deserve to be mocked for losing to such an inferior team. No reasonable Coot could argue against that.
Now can we get back to having a reasonable discussion about a college football team that has virtually nothing to do with either of our teams?

Why are you looking for UCF talk on a Clemson board? Because your team beat them? Georgia had a good year

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Doesn't seem like UCF gets much credit here but their season

Jan 11, 2014, 12:44 PM

they just weren't talked about a lot, at all. Not just here. It says something when you're the 2nd best team in Florida. Hate to now have 4 major instate schools to split up that talent. Probably means less will leave the state.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Doesn't seem like UCF gets much credit here but their season

Jan 11, 2014, 12:50 PM

Exactly. And one of the main reasons for my bringing it up. They could be a serious problem in recruiting for both of our schools if they continue to emerge. Maybe they pull from the other Fla schools some, but. More likely they do their work in the 100-150 range of Fla recruits where we both get good players from.

It is true. Name one five star recruit you have signed

Jan 11, 2014, 1:44 PM

from Florida. I will save you the trouble, zero. I have followed recruiting since 1974, and SCAR's success in recruiting has almost always been heavy in SC, Georgia, some in NC, some in Florida (but not the elite in Florida and usually no more than a couple of players a year).

Using Rivals site as an exmaple, SCAR has only signed 3 players rated as a four star recruit from Florida from the current recruiting class (2014) back to and including the 2010 class (5 years worth). Clemson has signed 3 five star and 6 four star players from Florida over the same period.

When Clemson is successful, our best players are typically heavy from Florida, Georgia, and NC, with a lesser balance from S.C.

SCAR historically has recruited SC as good or better than Clemson, even when we were winning, and SCAR was losing. Out of state talent, and most of it from Florida, NC and Georgia, is where most of our stars have come from for the last 30+ years.

Re: It is true. Name one five star recruit you have signed

Jan 11, 2014, 1:53 PM

Like I said I'm not a recruiting guru, but I will say I don't put a lot of stock in the (stars). Coaches getting the players they want and developing them is far more critical. Not sure what Ace was rated but he was pretty good. Wasn't Bellamy from Florida?
But given your info, doesn't that make the discussion that much more relevant for this board in terms of UCF taking recruits from Florida?

I can't think of a Florida player who has been a "star"

Jan 11, 2014, 2:11 PM

for SCAR, albeit the closest thing in the last 10 years IMO, would be Ace Sanders.

Garcia was a trainwreck.

As for the UCF discussion, well, on ESPN's board, it is a decent topic, but not on our site. No one here really cares about UCF or USF. If the topic had been brought up by a Clemson fan, it might have gotten one response. Being brought up by a SCAR fan, in a year they had played and beaten UCF, seems to be a way of pumping your team, not UCF's recruiting prowess.
