Does ND get in as the 4th seed if they lose a close game?

to us? They will be a 1 loss team with no ACC championship, but still get in...
I think we are out if we lose a close game to them.. who gets in as the 4th seed in these scenarios?

The consensus is that ND will be in under that scenario...

If ND wins and Florida beats Alabama, Florida moves in. If UF looses, aTm is in.

ND would have to lose by 2+ scores to be in doubt of missing the playoff. If Clemson loses, looking at A&M to sneak in if Bama wins as I expect.

Likely no. They are out. I think that with the CFP committee keeping us at #3 was klinda throwing shade at their wins against our depleted squad. Basically, they are saying that ND beat our backups... I would expect A&M or even Cincy to have a good case. Worse, if UF wins, Bama would be #4

No way. If we beat them in a close one, they're in.***

If ND loses a close game with us...

they'd be considered too big of a threat for AL to open the playoffs with.
They'd move in A&M, the team bama beat by 4 TD's for bama's opening round game.

And Assuming BAMA wins and Ohio wins I think the Top 4
1 Bama 2 Clemson 3 Ohio 4 ND
This is what they hoping because it would equal HUGE RATINGS!!

If ND loses to us and it's not a blow-out, they will be in at #3 ... not #4. Ohio State will be #4, assuming they win the Big10 CG, because of their smaller number of games played. We would then have a third game with ND in the Rose Bowl and Bama & OSU would play in the Sugar Bowl.

ND is in win or lose, just the position will be impacted.

Just my opinion, but...

if Clemson and Florida both win next week and the games are close, I think the final CFP poll will look a little something like this:
1 - Clemson
2 - Florida
3 - Alabama
4 - Notre Dame
OcryO State gets left out due to playing fewer games.
The CFP Committee would likely flip Clemson and Florida or Bama and Notre Dame in order to avoid rematches in the CFP semi finals.

Yes. Alabama vs. Notre Dame would be a huge draw.

If Clemson wins close and Bama wins.
Then, if Notre Dame can beat Bama, they will have earned a tie breaker vs. us. I don't see the committee matching up Clemson and ND in the first round of the playoffs.
