Deptula said if we go to Big 12

we would be 5th place in recruiting where we're out recruiting everyone along side FSU. Looking at the rankings only Texas is ahead of us in recruiting.

It was Deptula. He doesn't like it when people disprove the spew that falls from his mouth.
If we can recruit as well as we do in a basketball conference, then just think how well we would do if we were in a football conference. Dipshitz is comparing apples to oranges.

We aren't going to the Big 12. It would be idiotic for us

to go to the Big 12. I cannot figure out how this idiotic idea has taken on some kind of life of its own. Clemson Trustees would not vote for the move. The president wouldn't vote for it. The athletic director rightly thinks the idea is stupid for a host of reasons, including revenue, travel, geographical mismatches, and cultural disconnects. No one from Iowa wants to have to travel here every other year, and we certainly don't want to travel there, or to Lubbock, or Oklahoma City. As Walt pointed out in one of the few times he's actually ever been lucid, the conference almost died last year, and you think Clemson's going to hoist sails and go wander off into that boondoggle?

as the ACC is the easier path and that is what its all about, getting to BCS games. Which path is easier for us to get there? but my point was how would we be 5th?

Nothing against them, but 10 wins is more doable in the ACC.

5th place huh? I call BS...

Let's see..
Here's the last 3 years of recruiting...
2012 Recruiting National Rankings (Only showing Top 50 schools and showing WVU and TCU as comparisons as well):
Texas- 3rd OU- 11th Clemson- 14th TTU- 26th OK ST- 32nd TCU- 37th Baylor- 45th WVU- 48th
2011 Recruiting National Rankings (Top 50):
Texas- 3rd Clemson- 8th OU- 14th TTU- 20th TCU- 26th OK St- 28th Kansas- 34th Baylor- 46th WVU- 47th
2010 Recruiting National Rankings (Top 50):
Texas- 3rd OU- 7th Clemson- 19th WVU- 27th OK St- 31st Baylor- 39th TTU- 41st TCU- 46th
We can recruit with ANYONE. And honestly, going to the BIG XII would improve our recruiting. Period.

i've never understood the recruiting nationally aspect, look at basketball and the kids go cross-country to attend school all the time, more so than not. in football it seems more regional, and they only play 12-14 gms/yr. compared to the 50-ish games in bball. doesn't make any sense to me.

Clemson has recruited very well over the last couple of years...and going to the Big 12 could open more doors.

We aren't out-recruiting FSU we head to head I'd say. They have done a superior job recruiting on the lines of scrimmage. Clemson has done better at WR and RB

considering where we've finished in national recruiting standings. I've been wrong before though.

He made it seem as if we recruit against the ACC teams and would recruit against Big12, if we moved. Wrong. We recruit against Usuc, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, FSU, UNC, Miami, etc.
None of this would change if we moved.
