Poll: Which game is most likely to be a loss this season?

Jul 16, 2015, 2:36 AM

Which game do you feel is most likely to be a loss on our schedule?

Lousiville
-Thurs night @ Louisville will be a tough environment, but Louisville has lost a lot of weapons...especially on defense. We only have 5 days to prepare for this game (including a travel day). I'd say we'd only get about 3 1/2 practices in that are devoted to Louisville before kickoff. Louisville will be coming off a HUGE game against Auburn followed by a home game against a decent Houston team (who beat Pitt in their bowl game). They'll have 5 days from game to game as well, but no travel days.

Notre Dame
-Notre Dame will be a tough game, but we have 16 days to prepare. Notre Dame will have just come off of a game against GT 2 weeks prior and the UMass Minutemen 1 week prior.

Georgia Tech
-If we win big against Notre Dame, we'll quickly need to re-focus for GT. We only have a week to prepare and GT has a lot of returning starters this year. Last year's loss against GT should still be fresh in our players' minds.

Miami
-I'm not sure if Miami is anywhere close to being a threat, but I'll put them in here anyway. If we get a Noon game or 3:30 game @ Miami, their place will be empty. Miami will be coming off a tough 3-game stretch @Cincy, @FSU, and then a home game against VT.

NC State
-We always tend to get surprised by NC State when we go to their place. They'll be looking for a big win and the Clemson game comes after an open week followed by a matchup @ Wake.

FSU
-We'll see the Seminoles come to town after their game against Syracuse. They have GT 2 weeks before our game, so injuries may be a possibility for them. I'm sure any player suspensions will be expired by our game, so minus injuries, they should be 100%. FSU will have faced some good competition before our game including games against Miami, Louisville, and GT. Our players will definitely know what this game means.

OSU in the NC?

I think we can handle them but they're the only team with the talent to compete.

Come On Kennedy! Dang Marine get with Dabo's Program. LOL

I would love to say that we are going undefeated. This is what I will say in all honesty. Louisville has NO Secondary or LB Corps... That was their strength on their team. With Watson under center and the stable of RB that Clemson has this season it's an easy game in Louisville on a Thursday night. If we survive GT then I feel good about the rest being in Death Valley. ND will be decent on defense, but their offense lost a great QB and that's huge. Golsen however transfered to FSU. He's the real deal. Not as talented as Watson, but definitely a threat. Our Secondary will need to be sharp. If we survive those games then WE GO TO PAY DIRT!

Our country won't go on forever, if we stay soft as we are now. There won't be any America because some foreign soldiery will invade us and take our women and breed a hardier race.

If you consider a QB who turned the ball over more than 20 times last season to be "great," you certainly have an odd way of defining the word.

Louisville's strength will actually be their secondary. They got 2 thUGA transfers in safety Josh Harvey-Clemmons and CB Shaq Wiggins. They will be ready to go. ND will be a tough one, but I think we benefit from the 16 days off and the friendly confines of Death Valley. GT will definitely be our toughest test. Regardless of how much they lost on offense, their offensive scheme and defense is always somehow nasty. Good thing about getting F$U late in the season is hopefully we can develop a pass rush end that can get after the QB. Folsom doesn't have much of an arm, but he's good on his feet, a la Braxton Miller. Here's to hoping Golson is one hurtin' buckaroo after that one.

State

Jul 16, 2015, 8:58 AM

State is my dark horse candidate for the whole year. They have the potential to be very good. The same way we were 5 years ago when we started becoming what we are now. It's also on Halloween and there is a major upset almost every year on All Hallows Eve, and I'm afraid it's us this year.

Agree - if we're talking about "the one most likely" game, here. I mean, if by some miracle we're 7-0, or even 6-1 and a top five program going into that game, watch out. Just ask Danny Ford about getting blindsided by the peckers.... Just my $0.02.

GO TIGERS!!!

You're going to have to be more specific with the use of the word "peckers." It's applied to two teams we face.
