LOL, obviously not.

But my wife is from Augusta, GA, and her brother is a GA Tech grad. So I at least have some semblance of ACC roots. :P

So where did "coot" originate? Such an interesting term of endearment.

A coot is a trash duck, they think they are one of the toughest things on the planet "gamecock", but they are really just an embarrassment to the breed. Hell they give 'coots" a bad name!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

As a fellow Frog I can say a coot is not a gamecock

May 24, 2012, 2:06 PM

A gamecock is a beautiful bird and not worthy of representing U South Carolina. A coot is a worthless ugly bird that more represents U So Car

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I meant gamecock fan your right.

May 24, 2012, 2:10 PM

Thanks for the good words. Good to see you on here. I'm a Horned Frog first but also a big Clemson fan since my grandfather went to Clemson and played football for John W Heisman. Go Frogs and go Tigers. I went to the game when we played Clemson there a couple years ago. Awesome place and I hope we see Clemson in the xii?

I haven't been on t-net for very long but...

May 24, 2012, 1:49 PM [ in reply to Re: What is a "coot" ? ]

its pretty original to this board... I know the USC boards call us "taters"... internet is an interesting place.

Maybe some old-faithfuls could enlighten you on the rich history of the coot better than me.

Oh, now I get it. There is actually another bird that is actually called a "coot." LOL

Seems like "dodo" would have been a better name.

Basically, think about what a horned frog would hate the most, now imagine them being completely inferior since their creation while still being the most annoying thing on the planet, then they get the better of the horned frog for 3 years and think that they are the rulers of the universe. And that, my friend, is a coot

So, basically, a "pony" (SMU) or a "cub" (Baylor).

Got it!

Thanks for the lessons, boys.

I really like this place.

It is a worthless bird that likes to hang around where it's

May 24, 2012, 1:52 PM

not wanted. A couple of facts:

• They are very loud and obnoxious.
• Flightless and are known to have very little intelligence.
• Favorite food of Tigers.
• Also known as "Dirt Peckers".
• Like to hang out with larger members or leaders of their flock and squawk tirelessly.
• Despite their endless tirade and big squawk they are rather cowardly.

Just a few fun facts...I'm sure there are a few I left off.

Now that, my friend, sounds just like Texas Tech fans.

Be prepared.

It's something I sure never heard of......

until somebody on here came up with it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It is a....

May 24, 2012, 1:56 PM

worthless weak flying bird or a harmless simple-minded person both of which, ironically enough, also accurately describe the University of South Carolina fans base and their chicken mascot.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Stick around here long enough and you'll figure it out

May 24, 2012, 2:19 PM

they'll be the ones that spout ignorant, asinine comments that contradict common sense and any form of higher intelligence.

They'll say things that will leave you stunned to think that someone with even half a brain could come up with.

They'll say things that have you look to your kids and tell them to be sure to stay away from drugs.

I could go on but you get my point. Fact is that you'll know one when you see one.

that allows their young daughters to holler the slogan, and wear shirts that say "Go #####"! You will find as many here on T-Net as on their own websites, until November, when they get flogged in The Valley. Then you will have trouble spotting them anywhere!!
