Contract Extension?
Jun 7, 2012, 5:42 PM

....for a coach that can't beat SC and still to this day doesn't understand the importance of that game.
It really bothers me that our administration, athletic adminstration, & coaching staff don't get it! They care more about winning the Atlantic division title in our weak conference than beating SC.
Unless something changes now and I mean now, we better get used to being their b!tch.

of the road for a BCS coach. The extension is just to show committment and secure his spot to help recruiting.

I think he understands how important it is to fans like us.

The problem is that it apparently isn't that important to others that ultimately call the shots, have to come up with resources, etc. USC has far more resources, play in the best football conference in the country and are clearly committed to being as good as they can be. While we're committed, we don't have some of the things they have to work with.

I think we jumped the gun with the extension

Personally I think the jury is still out on Dabo and would have preferred not to extend his contract just yet. He has done some good things and deserves credit. At the same time we exhibited a lot of Bowdenesque qualities last year by losing badly 4 times. We caught a huge break playing a very banged up FSU and it was all we could do to handle Wake with the division on the line. Winning the ACC was long overdue but let's be honest, given the strength of the league it hardly qualifies you as a great team. But Clemson proves yet again that we celebrate good and do not demand great. What happens if we go 8-4 this year with another loss to scar and then follow it up with 8-4 or 9-3 in 2013 ? I want to see a team that can be physical, play great defense and have a couple of great years before I lock Dabo into a deal that we cannot afford to get out of. I still have not totally gotten over giving Bowden the big deal only to fire him less than a year later. Dabo is not a risk to leave so why not give it a little more time before extending ?

Agree Jim,I believe Clemson should have waited to the end of this season and based on what happened on the field made a decision then.Dabo has done some good things but we still have way too many games where we get pushed around or just plain quit! The four butt kickings in my mind are not erased by winning a pathetic ACC!
