after Coot game, win or lose..since he has not looked or acted like a happy camper..
and I’d say 110% IF he doesn’t get to have his own staff (which means Dabo’s buddies are toast)..plus not having meaningful intake in the O recruiting needs that fit his scheme (of which is out for lunch or to be determined, IMHO).
I hope he stays.

He's going to stay and Dabo is going to let him hand pick who stays is what I envision happening. Riley is going to get the keys this off-season imo. He's been relegated the student driver rn even though he's been a Nascar driver in the past.
Not to bash Dabo but I do think the reason Dabo will say several guys are let go in the off-season is bc they didn't mesh with Rileys vision on offense. Kind of an out for the guys that get canned.

Does it matter if he controlled the rest.
Not letting him have input on who's coaching is insanity, it's like putting a quad processor into a computer from the 80s. Would you expect the brain to run the entire show with no auxiliary support? what do you expect to happen?

Outside of everyone wanting this, including myself, why would we have any reason to believe Dabo won't allow his cronies to stick around?
When Chad Morris came in, Dabo picked his assistants for him. Jeff Scott, Tony Elliot, Robbie Caldwell and Danny Pearman.
This isn't new stuff.

Nor would I want to see him leave. From all accounts this guy knows his stuff.
There are a lot of factors impacting this offense but it all boils down to either coaching or talent. The only way this team takes a major step forward is with Cade or another QB stepping up and running the offense. Right now I would settle for a game manager that protected the ball and made good decisions.
It appears we have recruited fairly well on the O-line, but they are not very good so in my mind that is all about coaching and player development. Some of these guys have been in the program for 2 to 3 years. If Dabo changes nothing else but hires a top-notch O-line coach we will see improvement. Although I do not think this will be the only coaching change.
Our problems at receiver are all about talent. To be fair, I think there has been some improvement. Some of these guys like Brown, Williams, Stellato are getting better, but are not talented enough to scare defenses. If Moore and Wesco live up to expectations and become the type of receivers we all hope and pray they can be, our current receivers can help make this a really good group overall. The emergence of Briningstool is going to help a lot going forward.
I love CJ Spiller, but I question this hire. Great college player and average NFL player does not equate into a great coach for Clemson. He may look a lot smarter if some of the young backs and incoming recruits can produce which will depend a lot on the O-line.
I believe that a lot of changes are coming this offseason and Riley will have new assistants to work with in the spring. We need new ideas and new energy to go with Riley. If we are in fact going to be a run first offense and be "violent" we need to make the changes necessary to get to that point.
Despite sitting at 4-4, this team has the ability to be better even without a lot of changes which should be encouraging. Couple of breaks and a field goal kicker and this team would be at least 6-2 and the complexion changes. However, even at 6-2 this would not be a team that would come anywhere close to our best Tiger teams. To get back to where we all believe our Tigers should be, Dabo needs to make coaching moves and if he wants to get back into ACC Championship and playoff contention quickly, he needs to get into the portal and pull in some experienced players that want a chance to play for a championship level program.

Agree with most if not all & have no opinion on Spiller as a coach but he did flirt with NFL stardom before injuries eventually took their toll. 2012 season Pro Bowl 1244 yds 6.0 ypc(led league), league leader in rushing through the first 4-5 games for a couple of seasons but always got hurt. Bills were awful & played on artificial turf

I think best thing from that reply is about being violent … it seems like we are trying to transition to more of a running team and a lot of that may be based on the fact our wr room has gone downhill so much but you can’t run “dirt raid” when you don’t have the OL or backs even close to do accomplish that…there has to be something that this offense can do fairly well m, we just have no identity right now

If you recall coach V wasn't so happy in year one then he meshed with the staff and things took off. Now I think the o should be much better than it is but never the less they will give this longer than a year to click. I do think if other assistants arent deemed to be clicking they could be replaced.

He(Venables) got to bring his guys (position coaches) in slowly and that's when the defense got really good. Mike Reed was also a huge piece to that puzzle, Dabo needs to keep that man as long as possible.

Head coaches hire assistant coaches.
Assistant coaches don't hire assistant coaches.
I'm not sure why Clemson fans think this is a Dabo problem.
Watch around the country this year and see if new coordinators get to come in and fire everyone on their side of the ball and pick who they want.
That's ludicrous to think that happens anywhere.
When the offseason hits, Dabo will talk with all coaches and see what he thinks is working and what isn't and he will make decisions.
The only people who may help him are the people with more power, not less.

You may be onto something. Garrett was supposed the “the be all, end all” for Clemson’s offense. This was supposed to help Clemson and Garrett. It has been a painful, journey for all this year. Clemson was most likely what he thought was the keys to the kingdom (a head coaching job next). I think he was supposed to fix our offense and we were supposed to be his stepping stone to bigger and better things. It has done nothing for his resume nor Clemson’s, however! I hope he stays and gets this team turned around, but if he doesn’t, I can’t blame him either! Either way, Go tigers!

I’m just wondering how so many seems to know what Riley does or does not control, or who he wants to keep or get rid of? Maybe one day I can get into some of these coaching meetings with Dabo and the staff.

If he does leave, Dabo needs to grab Scott Frost. He did not do well as the head guy at Nebraska, but he’s a great offensive mind, just look at what he did while he was the O.C. at Oregon.
