That's a good question. But the NCAA is opposed to making the athletes employees. Right now, w/ o congress passing legislation that would exempt the "employees " from the Fair Labor Standards Act which exempts the NFL, NBA AND MLB AS WELL AS THE NHL, probably all professional athletes, the NCAA could not survive. There would be too many obstacles and too many legal hurdles to deal with. So, until that happens, and it probably will eventually, the college athletes will continue to be student athletes. So, I think fans will still support them. At least initially.
