Why is the ACC so bad ….esp by means of what it could be….there is

No reason for Miami, VT, FSU to suck outloud as bad as they do……to have 1 team in this league that is legit is pretty bad. When Miami/VT came into this league they were dominant…….then a few years into it…they fell off the cliff face first and haven’t hit bottom yet……I just don’t get it.

There maybe aren't a few great teams but the whole league in average is still considered pretty good nationwide. Otherwise we couldn't have taken a loss to Pittsburgh and still played for the national championship several years ago. And when ND was in we had two teams in the playoff. And one other year ND and we both made it and they play a half ACC schedule.

Different for every program. It's usually a combination of lack of commitment to football from the admin folks and bad coaching hires.

At Miami, there was not a commitment to football from the top. I would argue the same with FSU, to a smaller degree. They were not on the same page with Jimbo Fisher, so he left, and they've never recovered (Willie Taggert was a disaster). VT is not a super-easy place to be dominant, and they suffered as Beamer got older and approached retirement. And there isn't an easy fix there, IMO. They have great fans, but VT is not a naturally dominant school, but just a solid football school.

GT has been similar to Miami, with a lack of commitment to football from the top. Sitting in the middle of Atlanta, and not even attempting to compete. It's so frustrating.

At this point, I feel confident when I say that by the end of the GOR in 2036, probably only half the conference will still be considered part of the "ACC". The programs that can get out will get out, either to the B1G or the SEC.

It probably won't happen for a quite a few years. But it will happen.

BC it had John Swoford running it for way to many years, and it would take as many plus years to straighten up his screw ups while he was making the decisions for the ACC. I do remember the times before Swoford, that the ACC was as strong as any conference in college FB!!!
