Why is our offense so clunky?

Grateful for the win on Saturday but, man, our offense makes everything look hard. There was one drive where we looked sharp but even then Cade was having to fit the ball in tight windows.
Watching Wash, USC, LSU, Bama, and even Oregon St. on Saturday after watching our game…
We just have no offensive identity. All those teams were able to find things that worked and build off of them. And all of them were able to make passes to receivers who were open and on the move.
Don’t just say they were playing against bad defenses. LSU and then I have good defenses and we’ve looked equally bad against poor defenses.

Lack of sufficient design adjustments being made week to week with each opponent combined with a very limited 25-30 plays being presented each week in our play book which makes it easy for opponents work to to shut us down!

Well, USC, Wash, LSU have NFL qbs. Probably even first round picks.
Alabama has the best roster in football and Milroe is FAST.
Haven't seen Oregon State play.
To answer your question, I believe it's QB play and trickles down from there. Put Williams, Penix or Daniels at Clemson and we're in the playoff.

Cade isn't the problem. None of those QBs are going to do much better behind our line and with our WRs.

BS, the ONLY reason DJU is marginally better than last year is he has a better OL.

Our offense would absolutely be better with a QB

like Williams or Pennix. I wouldn't be as good as USCs or Washington's because we are missing other pieces, but you can't tell me with a straight face that a couple of Heisman caliber QBs wouldn't be better than Cade.

so your argument is our receivers catch the ball if it's thrown by those guys but not from Cade?
Cade makes his share of bad passes, so does every one of the Qb's you mentioned ... he also has a ton of drops...
all world Caleb Williams has lost 3 games and has 4 interceptions at USC and could easily be 4 losses by the end of the season, they play Oregon and UCLA to finish out the season...

He's had one bad game at Notre Dame. They just scored 42 against Washington and lost.

You’re very wrong. Clemson needs a better OL and a few more playmakers coot

We don't have playmakers, particularly at receiver. That's means it hard to generate big plays. Our offense line isn't that great, so it's harder to establish a running game and keep the chains moving. For what ever reason, we aren't using the quarterback in the run game, meaning the defense has one less thing to worry about.

If Cade had Watkins, Higgins, Ross, and Renfrow running routes, that would indeed give our running game a bit of breathing room.

That’s been our offensive “identity” for years. For years, I have been watching other teams and it seems like most teams have receivers that get wide-open several times throughout the game, but Clemson receivers always seem to be covered and nearly every pass is a 50-50 ball.

I noticed the tight windows during Trevor’s last two years and I had blamed it on Tony Elliott.
It’s just baffling to me how we bring in Garrett Riley and the same thing is happening. Air raid offenses are known for hitting guys on the move and effectively layering routes to create spacing. It seems like 80% or more of the time, Cade is throwing to a WR who is standing and waiting for the ball.

tight windows happen when you have good D-backs... or they do not respect you deep. Cade hits most of the windows, when he throws it's usually purposeful... but he still makes some throws where you shake your head, when he tries to do too much...
Of his 6 interceptions this year, 3 really bad passes
1. Duke game - Shipley missed the pass off his face, deflected to a defender 2. CS - throw off his back foot under pressure to no one... pick 6... BAD pass 3. Miami - scrambling overthrow downfield to the sideline... BAD pass 4. NC State 1 - floated overthrow ... BAD pass 5. NC State 2 - pick 6. Freak play, ball tipped by defensive lineman with back to the ball into the hands of trailing linebacker who ran it back ... Shipley was open up the seam had his man beat by 3 yards and opening... 6. ND - Collins dropped pass, tipped into ND D-Back hands... low snap rolled back to Cade. Pick up and threw a dart Collins muffed it...
What the majority of these have in common is an offensive mental mistake on previous play(s), procedure, holding, etc. or rolling the ball back to the QB.

Insert Max Duggans, just for instance, and the offense looks completely different.
