Why is Bear's name and number on the outfield wall?

He was good. But with all of the success over the years in Clemson baseball, all of the super regionals and College World Series appearances. 1 of the few players who gets that recognition never played on a super regional or college World series team. Were his numbers and career that much better than everyone else? Asking seriously and not trying to be mean to Beer. Just seems strange to me.

I cannot even understand why you would ask or post such a question.
Really I can’t.

I think the answer to your question is written on the wall, literally. He was national player of the year, along with Khalil Greene and Kris Benson.

Yes, his best year at Clemson numbers wise was his freshman year. His next two years teams pitched around him a lot. Incredible baseball player

I apologize. I was wrong about Beer. He played during a brief time where I did not follow much Clemson baseball so should not have made this post. Re-looked at his numbers and he had 3 great seasons. Too bad that he must have played on so bad teams. Maybe if he had played during the Leggett or Wilhelm era's his individually great seasons would have also translated into more team success. I stand corrected about Beer and thanks to those who corrected my error. I have much more appreciation for him now after doing a little research.

Purple, you’re correct about the teams he played on in comparison and Respect to Omaha etc With Leggett and the success at that time. The teams beer played on weren’t bad teams. Frontline pitching (starters) Was and has consistently been the issue. Getting deep into games and being healthy late in the season especially regionals has costs us many games. Toney hitting and situational gameplay hasn’t been there as well. No harm, Beer will go down as one the best to everyone play for Clemson as well as being a #### good pro, which a lot folks on here seem to care less about.
